"Calvin and Hobbes" is an American comic strip by Bill Watterson. The two main characters are the 6 year old Calvin and his stuffed tiger Hobbes. Hobbes is a living and speaking tiger for Calvin and also his best friend, for every other person he's just Calvin's stuffed tiger.

"Calvin and Hobbes" was a daily newspaper strip in America from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995. The series was so successful that it was printed in 2,400 newspapers around the world.

The series was repeatedly reprinted in 18 books in America. The complete edition "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes" with three wonderful hardcover books in a boxed set is one of the most beautiful edition of the reprints.

Unfortunately there's missing a daily strip from November 28, 1985 in all of the so far published books. Every book of this time period contains a strip of this day, but the washing machine gag was never reprinted.

The alternative strip of November 28, 1985 was printed in the following American books:
Calvin and Hobbes
The Essential Calvin and Hobbes – A Calvin and Hobbes Treasury
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes
November 28, 1985...This is the only "Calvin and Hobbes" strip which was never reprinted. It's not known why, but probably because Calvin would have loved to climb into the washing machine. For the strip was admitted for all ages they surely tried to protect little children from imitating the bath in the washing machine. At that time the strip was by the way only printed in the half of the American newspapers in which the adventures of "Calvin and Hobbes" were published.

The other half of the newspapers which were publishing "Calvin and Hobbes" at that time printed an alternative strip on that day.
