Recut
15:05-15:08 / 17:58-18:00 In the US Version, Lori comments the picture with "There's a link between the hospital attendant and that many there." Drydock looks at her. In the Original Version, the audience is supposed to figure it out by themselves by the overly large branding: We here have an alternate shot of Lori and she remains silent. US Version 0.8 sec longer
15:32 / 18:24-18:27 Actually, the two previously described shots from the US Version belong here. That means it was not exclusive footage but a simple recut resp. her comment was considered more sensible there. 3.4 sec 15:53 / 18:48-18:53 The tracking shot down the building is insignificantly longer. 5 sec
16:30 / 19:30-20:26 Peter and Lori are walking and talking about all kinds of redundant stuff. Then they get in the car. 55.8 sec
18:17 / 22:13-23:31 During the car ride, Peter asks Lori if she was doing better and adds it was not unusual that apartments were being broken in. Lori explains she was not sure if it was a break-in and it might have been something different but she could put her finger on it. She then tells Peter it might have something to do with the symbol and that she was just scared at the moment. Peter says he was her guy which is why the meeting was about to take place at his office. After he says they better not let the others wait, Lori wants to know where they were going. Peter does not say anything and smiles at Lori instead. Then he stops the car. They get out and get to the other sie of the road. 78.5 sec (= 1:18 min)
Partially Recut 19:41-20:08 / 24:55-25:52 Alternate order of scenes before the group gets to the island. As often, the intention was to speed things up and used stock footage in order to so - the first shot is not original footage. On the new US Blu-ray however, the International Version lacks a small scene (as described in the separate comparison) - added to the following description/screenshots. The US Version starts with the plane taking off, followed by a small boat on the water with some 70s music playing.
The International Version starts with the jeep instead. An interior shot and some dialog follows. Peter wants to know how long Dr. O'Brien had been living on the island. The passenger explains it should be 5 or 6 years. Lori then tells the others that this humid heat was killing her. Susan says it was a reporter's job. George intervenes by calling that complete nonsense. He explains a good reporter never did his research on site and never left his desk either. Susan then says one could only do that if one was rich and famous and she intended to also reach that status by going on this trip. Subsequently, a distance shot of the driving jeep (this shot with a length of 12 seconds is missing in the Severin Version resp. it has been added here!). Another interior shot of the jeep follows. Peter says it was not far anymore and Lori asks why a famous surgeon like Dr. O'Brien used to be once would settle on an island like that. Peter explains Dr. O'Brien was helping the natives there.
Original Version 29.4 + 12.4 sec longer 21:23 / 27:07 Congratulations for a job well done because a few missing frames due to a reel change have been reconstructed here. It takes place before the movie goes on inside. 0.4 sec 24:57 / 30:41-30:55 This is where the shots of the boat (at 19:41-20:08 / 24:55-25:52 in the US Version) actually belong. 13.9 sec 25:30 / 31:28-31:34 Peter uses binoculars to look at the ocean. 6 sec
50:13-55:17 / 56:17-61:21 Now the scene added to the US Version in which Lori and Peter keep wandering around the (deciduous) wood until the encounter two cannibals. Also in the here compared version of the new US Blu-ray and not descibed in detail for that reason. The length difference has been considered in the calculation in the intro though. no difference (resp. 303.8 sec (= 5:04 min))
64:28 / 70:32-70:33 Lori's body slightly longer. 0.7 sec
Credits 81:24-81:47 / 87:29-88:58 The US Version contains a smooth transition from Peter and Lori. When the barn is burning, a freeze frame follows and "The End" appears on the screen. The International Version also shows the burning barn (there is no freeze frame though plus it is much longer here) while the credits start rolling. International Version 65.9 sec longer
