DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES

Rock of Ages

Comparison:

  • Theatrical Version
  • Extended Cut
Release: Nov 11, 2012 - Author: Buster - Translator: Mr Miau - external link: IMDB
It is the year 1987. The young Sherrie Christian is taking the bus to Los Angeles, dreaming of becoming a famous singer. However, her luggage is stolen when she is standing in front of the famous night club "The Bourbon Room". Basically without anything left she has to start working as a bartender in the club.

The club owner Dennis Dupree and his right hand Lonny Barnett have financial problems themselves, but hope that the spirit of Rock'n'Roll will somehow help the club to prevail. And so they hire the famous rock star Stacee Jaxx, who is preparing for this last gig with his band Arsenal in order to be able to pay his debts.

When the mayor's religious and very conservative wife learns of the concert, she organizes a church demonstration in front of the "Bourbon Room", trying to protect the city from sex and drugs and Rock 'n' Roll and close the club forever.

Unfortunately, we have to say again that due to the label's release policy, the Extended Cut is only available on Blu-ray.

A sticker on the Extended Cut's cover promises: More Songs, More Dancing, More Laughs.
Is that true?

More songs: Actually, it's only one.
More dancing: With some reservations.
More laughs: Not at all.

What is the reason for the R-Rating? Sexual Content?
Oh yes

The movie can be easily recommended to all friends of rock music.

Extended Scene in the Extended Cut:
During their first meeting, Drew takes Sherrie to the Hollywood Hills. Under the famous letters Drew closes his eyes and dreams that Sherrie is dancing for him in her night gown. They sing a part of "Waiting for a Girl Like You" together.

1 min. and 23 sec.

Sherrie:
"You're so good.
When we make love it's understood.
It's more than a touch or a word we say.
Only in dreams could it be this way.
When you love someone, yeah, really love someone."

Drew:
"Really love someone.
Now, I know it's right.
From the moment I wake up till deep in the night."

00:33:31
Extended Scene in the Extended Cut:
Afterwards, Drew plays a short part of "Don't Stop Believin" for Sherrie. The Theatrical Version lacks the shot of her going to him and asking whether her advice was of any use.

52 sec.

Sherrie: "How'd it feel?"
Drew: "Uh... The breathing really helps."

Sherrie:
"Just a small town girl. Mmm, lonely world.
She took the midnight train. Going anywhere..."

Sherrie: "... It was actually a bus but I think train sounds better."
Drew: "What sounds better is you singing it."
Sherrie: "Really? You like me singing?"
Drew: "It's one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard."

00:38:35
Extended Scene in the Extended Cut:
The support for the evening had to cancel the gig. Sherrie suggests Drew's band. Dennis and Lonni are sceptical at first, but Dennis can be convinced when Sherrie tells him that they will play for free.
In the extended scene, Lonni is also doing a short sound check. Drew accidentally pushes the microphone over with the guitar and causes some feedback to occur.

1 min. and 47 sec..

Lonny: "Excuse me, sunshine. Testing. Testing. I have an adequately sized, uncircumcised penis. Penis. Penis. And smashing set of balls."
Drew: "Okay, I think..."
Lonny: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Say again, whoa! What are you doing? The mike's not prepped yet. Right. Now it's ready."
Drew: "Thanks."
Lonny: "Cowboys."
Drew: "Sorry, guys."
Lonny: "Drew. I can see you're nervous. Pretend like nobody's watching you. Connect with something powerful and emotive deep down. In my case, that's little Lonny. In your case, it might be something different. Just imagine yourself completely alone with something that you love."
Drew: "Okay."

00:45:50
Additional Scene in the Extended Cut:
When Sherrie meets her idol Stacee Jaxx, she instantly collapses and falls on her face. The extended scene starts with a rather long black screen and then shows Drew taking care of her.

Sherrie: "Ow! What happened?"
Drew: "You passed out."
Sherrie: "I saw Stacee Jaxx. Oh, my God. I'm so embaressed. Oh, my Go..."
Drew: "It's okay. I'm sure girls faint around him all the time."
Sherrie: "They're gonna be fainting around you too in no time."

00:47:44
Extended Scene in the Extended Cut:
Constance Sack, a journalist from the Rolling Stone Magazine, would like to have an interview with Stacee. The chat gets interrupted when a female fan enters the room and wants to have an autograph on her breast.

00:51:07
Extended Scene in the Extended Cut:
Constance asks Stacee about his old Highschool love, with whom he once hitchhiked from Detroit to Los Angeles. A short part is missing.

1 min. and 32 sec.

Constance: "Remember her? No comment?"
Stacee: "Hmm? Two Minutes."
Constance: "Did I hit a nerve? Aerosmith? Detroit? High School sweatheart? Jenny Anderson. Your first love. And your last hit single, 'I'm gonna rock you in the mouth', it was written about her."
Stacee: "Record sold 100 million copies."
Constance: "And that record was produced about eight years ago. Some people say you've sold out since then."
Stacee: "I sell out right. Every seat, every stadium I ever play."
Constance: "Yeah, and yet, creatively, you've come to a standstill. You've been in and out the studio for the past, what? Two years? And no results. Nothing."

00:58:20
Additional Scene in the Extended Cut:
During their next meeting, Stacee asks Sherrie to bring him a bottle of scotch to his room. She eagerly says she will do it because she hopes to be able to get a souvenir. In the additional shot, Drew stops her and they have a brief chat.

Sherrie: "I just met Stacee again. And I didn't even faint."

Sherrie: "Oh, yeah, of course."

Additional Scene in the Extended Cut:

Stacee: "How much to make my pain go away?"
Sherrie: "I just dance."
Stacee: "I like to dance. Ten thousand."
Sherrie: "Why not?"

Sherrie:
"It's early morning, the sun comes out.
Last night was shaking and pretty loud.
My cat is purring, it scratches my skin.
So what is wrong with another sin."

Stacee:
"The bitch is hungry, she needs to tell.
So give her inches and feed her well."

Sherrie:
"More days to come, new places to go.
I've got to leave, it's time for a show."

Sherrie und Stacee:
"Here I am. Rock you like a hurricane.
Here I am. Rock you like a hurricane."

Sherrie:
"My body is burning, it starts to shout.
Desire is coming, it breaks out loud."

Stacee:
"Lust is in cages till storm breaks loose.
I Just have to make it with someone I choose."

Sherrie und Stacee:
"The night is calling, I have to go."

Sherrie:
"The wolf is hungry, he runs the show.
He's licking his lips, he's ready to win."

40 sec.

Paul: "Just remember the moves, right? Remember the attitude. And make sure that those head mikes are turned off. God forbid anyone hears your actual voices. Oh! Nice of you to show."
Drew's Band member: "I don't understand why we can't sing."
Paul: "It's better that way. Less chance to screw up, right?"
Drew: "Wait. We're not singing?"
Drew's Band member: "All we gotta do is mouth the words."
Drew: "So we're lip-syncing?"
Paul: "Just relax. It's done all the time. Pretty soon everyone will do it."
Drew: "Does Dennis*) know?"
Paul: "Don't worry your pretty little head about Dennis. I'm saving his ass tonight. All right, fellas? Come on. Let's go. Everybody in."
