Comparison between the UK DVD released by Nouveaux Pictures and the US Blu-ray released by Criterion. Both media include Anatole Daumann's so-called "Producer's Cut" wich was authorized by director Oshima.
On the UK DVD's packaging you can read the word "Uncut", however, there is one scene which was altered in order to conform to the BBFC's guidelines (Protection of Children Act 1978) because there's an immoral contact between a woman and a minor. On the DVD's cover you can read:
During this scene, Sada (during a dream) pulls a small boy's penis. The scene was altered so that you don't see her hand touching the boy's pubic area. On October 5th, 2009, the BBFC re-rated the movie and made the following statement about this scene:

US: 00:00:00 The Blu-Ray begins with the logos of the Criterion Collection, Janus Films, and Argos Films. 31 sec UK: 00:55:05 US: 00:57:58 Sada (Eiko Matsuda) plays with 2 kids, both of them run away from her and the scene seems to be quite cheerful at first. However, at one point she gets a hold of the little boy who symbolises Kichizo in her dream. She grabs the boy's penis and starts pulling it pretty rough. The boy is in pain and in tears looks at the little girl. Additionally, the US Blu-Ray's version of this scene is 6 frames longer.
