Compared is the DVD 1.01 and the Blu Ray 1.11.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, created in 1995, considered, beside its Mecha genre, a lot of conection to psychological problems of its characters as well as elements from philosophical approaches and offers neat action.
Beside different manga's, games and merchandise there are also two movies made with the story background (Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion), produced in 1997.
In 2007 the series was remade as "Rebuild of Evangelion", there are four movies planned.

The Blu Ray version has been remastered again, some mistakes were corrected and additional effects were added.
Comparison of images: DVD 1.01 and the Blu Ray 1.11
The extended scenes have a runtime of approx. 3 minutes but do not offer new plot and content information. Because of the improved effects and corrected mistakes the Blu Ray is a worthy purchase.
Runtime of the shorter version: 01:37:42 (with credits and preview)
Runtime of the longer version: 01:40:21 (with credits and preview)

Two takes are blended in: One can see the streets of Neo-Tokyo 3 before one can see the interior of Misato's car. A short monolog about the delay follows.
The damaged car can be seen and inside the car there is a dialogue between Misato and Shinji. The dialogue uncovers Shinji's silent and depressive behavior. Afterwards there is a informational dialogue between Shinji's father and a representative. One experiences that the 4th angel is able to regenerate.
1 Min. 21 Sec.
Shinji and Misato got lost in the facility. Ritsuko is working on EVA 01. An announcement appears which states the arrival of Misato, Ritsuko finishes the work.
One can hear the announcement that the angel attacks again. In the meantime Shinji is sitting in a boat and moves towards EVA 01.
After the conversation between Shinji and his father one can see 4 single images of NERV members.
The Blu Ray has got the shoes virtually inserted later. This makes sense because the next take shows them on the stairs (this is a retreated scene - see intro).
