96:06 / 127:19-127:20
Before the explosion, Ken can be seen for a little longer, taking the cigarette out of his mouth. 1.4 sec
96:07 / 127:21-127:23 The pile of money explodes a little longer, and you can see this from another perspective. 1.5 sec
96:15 / 127:31-127:43 Lung searches the ground for his weapon and Ho briefly fights Shing Fui-on. Finally, Ken is seen a little earlier, still shaking from the explosion. 11.6 sec
96:28 / 127:56 End and beginning (irrelevant) of two shots. 0.9 sec 96:37 / 128:06-128:07 The guy is riddled with bullets for a moment longer, and the follow-up shot of Ken shooting also begins a few frames earlier. In general, however, this scene is longer here and there by insignificant frames. 0.6 sec
96:42 / 128:12-128:13 The guy hangs in the broken glass a little longer. 1 sec
96:45 / 128:16-128:33 Lung pulls himself up and moves to the side, whereupon you see Chong watching him quietly from a corner and following him. 17.2 sec
96:52 / 128:40-128:49 Possibly deliberate censorship of violence: Shing Fui-on grabs Ho again by the wound on his chest and headbutts him. He also throws him down the stairs. 8.7 sec
96:58 / 128:55-128:56 Ho can be seen a moment earlier, before he jumps after Ko. 0.5 sec
97:04 / 129:02-129:03 Ko is attacked from two sides a little earlier. 1.1 sec
97:07 / 129:06 Ho shoots a little longer. 0.5 sec
97:17 / 129:17 Lung slightly earlier. 0.5 sec 97:30 / 129:30-129:34 Lung gasps a little more and then looks up in the direction of Ko, who is fleeing. 3.9 sec
Re-ordered scene 97:32-97:36 / 129:36-129:41 A short long shot with more shots was moved back a little in the theatrical version, interrupting the shot of Lung (which is slightly longer in the middle of the workprint) before he shoots. Workprint 1.3 sec longer
97:45 / 129:50-129:52 Lung can be seen a little earlier. 1.9 sec
Re-ordered scene 98:22 or 98:31-98:35 and 99:02-99:06 / 130:29-133:09 Ken can be seen a little longer, then Lung staggers outside – this short part was reinserted into the theatrical version shortly after the first shots between Chong and Ken, but it is longer at the beginning of the workprint. Ho says to Uncle Kin to take care of Lung and turns his attention to Chong, who has his gun pointed at him. However, he puts it down and reaches for his sword.
The two duel for a while, and Ho is injured.
While Ko continues to sneak away, Ken shoots another guy in a white jacket at length—some nice slow-motion shootouts. Ho continues to hold his stomach wound, Chong pauses briefly and then gets up.
Ken fends off a few more attackers. Lung falls to the ground outside – again, only a short shot of this is inserted later in the theatrical version. Chong now draws his weapon and approaches Ken.
Workprint 151.9 sec (= 2:32 min) longer Alternative 98:35-98:37 / 133:18-133:28 At the point where the shot of Lung was inserted, Ken was actually visible for much longer. Further reaction shots to the long shot and to Chong follow – but the theatrical cut also has an additional long shot (note Chong's jacket). Workprint 8.4 sec longer
98:41 / 133:32-133:34 Now the workprint also has a long shot similar to the theatrical version, but it is not the same: here, the two have already bent their knees a little deeper. 2 sec
98:46 / 133:39-133:42 After the next exchange of gunfire, the shot is slightly longer and the following close-up of the gun resting on the floor begins a little earlier. 3.2 sec
98:48 / 133:44-133:48 Chong points the gun at Ken's head. 4 sec
98:50 / 133:50-133:52 The following shot from above is a little longer and the shot of Ken afterwards begins a little earlier. 1.8 sec 98:56 / 133:58-133:59 Chong is visible a little longer and Ken a few frames earlier. 1.4 sec 99:06 / 134:06-134:22 Here, the second shot of Lung falling to the ground outside was inserted in the theatrical version – and again, this is accompanied by a little more material in the workprint. Before Ken takes off his glasses, he is seen here for the first time, with a little blood running from his mouth. The camera then pans up to Chong again, followed by more reaction shots to Ken and him. 15.9 sec
99:14 / 134:30-134:33 Another shot of Ken is a little longer, then Chong reaches for his sunglasses earlier. 3 sec
Re-ordered scene 99:18 and 99:20-99:22 / 134:36-135:15 The shot of Chong is also a little longer and you can see Ken. He grins and slowly reaches for his gun. Chong fires a first shot, Ken snorts. He now pulls only a match out of his jacket, which he puts in his mouth in slow motion – only a short part of this was then included in the theatrical cut 2 seconds later. Chong looks a little intimidated in the face of so much coolness. The scene where he reaches for his gun again begins a little earlier. Workprint 36.2 seconds longer
99:22 / 135:17-135:22 Instead of the moment inserted in the theatrical version where Ken puts the match in his mouth, the workprint features another shot of him and a reaction shot to Chong's hands holding the guns. 4.8 sec
99:25 / 135:25-135:26 A few insignificant frames before Chong pushes his second weapon over. 0.8 sec 99:31 / 135:32-135:35 Chong stands up and the following shot from above and to the side begins a little earlier. 3 sec
99:35 / 135:39-136:13 After Ken puts his foot on the gun, Chong is seen again and Ken takes out a coin. He tosses it in slow motion and both wait for the result. When the coin comes to rest, Chong leans forward - and with his hand on the gun, the theatrical cut resumes. 34.2 sec
Re-ordered scene 100:29-100:34 / 137:07-137:55 Lung writhes on the ground for longer. A very short part of this is reinserted into the theatrical version shortly afterwards, when Ken shoots from behind. There is actually some more dialogue, of which only a short comment by Ko remains in the theatrical version when he raises his gun. With his last ounce of strength (visualized by his blurred POV), Lung fires shots, but misses. Uncle Kin also crouches in the background, and Ken can be seen a little earlier. Lung: “Ko Ying-Pui... You're too serious.” Ko: “Do you think in this world that good people will be rewarded?” Workprint 43.5 sec longer
100:39 / 137:59-138:00 When Ko falls to the ground after being hit in the leg, the workprint briefly shows Lung on the ground again. 1 sec
100:42 / 138:04 Before Lung fires, the theatrical version now recycles a very short part of the frontal shot of him that has just been shown. + 0.3 sec Alternative 100:51-100:54 / 138:13-138:17 Interesting detail change: The theatrical cut cuts from Lung's face directly to a shot of Ko, and here Lung pulls the gun out of the frame on the right. In the workprint, the camera pans from Lung to Ko instead, but the shot stops here before he pulls the gun away. Workprint 1.5 sec longer
101:20 / 138:43-138:44 Only the theatrical cut softens the transition to the interior shot. The workprint shows the shot a moment earlier. 1 sec
101:26 / 138:50-138:56 A first shot of Ho, Lung, and Ken in the armchairs. 5.8 sec
101:35 / 139:05-139:07 The next shot of Uncle Kin begins a little earlier. 2.2 sec
101:49 / 139:21-139:30 Uncle Kin staggers away a little longer and various police officers arrive and stream inside. 9.2 sec
102:10 / 139:51-139:53 Woo reaches for his glasses earlier. 1.8 sec
102:14 / 139:56-139:57 The shot is also slightly longer, and the following shot of Lung begins insignificantly earlier. 1.1 sec 102:18-102:19 / 140:01-140:38 The theatrical version freezes the image on Lung and fades smoothly to the scene in the restaurant.
In the workprint, the camera movement continues to Ho instead, followed by a quasi-alternative ending: we see our heroes sitting in prison and Ken opens a letter. We then hear Jackie's words, which in the theatrical version begin during the crossfade and can then be heard over the following (identical) shots in the restaurant.
Workprint 35.5 sec longer 102:48-104:30 / 141:08-141:39 The theatrical version offers conventional credits over the frozen image.
In the workprint, there are only a few credits for the restoration and, finally, the title screen.
