Compared are the cut episodes on the US DVD by Lions Gate / FOX and the uncut episodes on the German DVD by Warner Home Video.
5 cuts = 1 minute and 48 seconds
One certainly needs to make no words about the hilarious TV show "ALF". Even those who have not seen it have at least heard of it even though it has been quite some time since something new from the ALF universe was released. Anyway, the show consists of 4 seasons and was aired in the late 80s and early 90s. Furthermore, there are two animated series ("ALF: The Animated Series" & ALF Tales) and a motion picture from the mid 90s.
As for the US Versions, a few minutes of each episode were cut for syndication in order to show more commercials. Unfortunately, these syndication versions were also released on DVD. Understandably, the fans were disappointed that the DVDs do not contain the uncut episodes. Whether or not the uncut episodes will be released one day (perhaps on Blu-ray?) is the million dollar question.
Brian pours cornflakes into five bowls. Then, Willie and Katherine come into the kitchen.
Willie: Morning, Brian! What's that?
Brian: Alf's breakfast!
Willie: I think not!
He puts a few of the bowls away again. Then, Alf comes into the kitchen, looking ruffled and exhausted.
Willie: What happened to you?
Alf: I've got static cling!
Brian: Oh, there's my other sock!
He rips a sock off of Alf’s fur. Alf screams.
Alf: Yank out all my fur, why don't you?
Willie: What were you doing in the laundry?
Alf: The question is, what is the laundry doing in my room? However, if I had a room of my own!
Willie: Sorry, Alf! A room addition is out of the question!
Alf: Fine! Just remember this the next time you complain about fur in your shorts!
The intro starts at different points in both versions.
No difference in time.
Alf: I was measuring for my bedroom set! Now, I'm thinking of a Southwestern motif! Willie, pick up a few cattle skulls on your way home tomorrow! There's a dear!
Katherine: Alf, we need the attic!
When Alf and the others watch a video of Willie and Katherine at the Woodstock festival, some dialog was cut out.
Brian comments on Katherine dancing in a hippie outfit: "Wow, you were cute back then!"
Katherine (flattered): Oh, thanks, Bri!
Alf: You can't rebuild without tearing down first!
Willie: That's ridiculous! You have to work within the system!
Alf is sitting at the kitchen table to prepare something to eat. While doing so, he sings: I'm gonna lay down my fork and spoon! Down by the dinner plate! Down by the dinner plate! I'm gonna lay down my fork and spoon! Down by the dinner plate! And eat this with my hands!
He puts fork and spoon away and greedily stuffs salad into his mouth with his bare hands.
