Comparison between the censored R-rated version and the uncensored Unrated version.
Both versions have been released on the US- and Canada-DVD (New Line Cinema) which were used to create this report.
Some of the edited scenes are set at night which made it hard to see details on the images. For this reason I increased the brightness of some of the images.
Surprisingly the R-rated DVD shows the revealing of ulna and radius when the cook's arm is being broken at 68:19 min.. The R-rated version of the Guild VHS (UK) misses that scene.

The doctor bites three more times into the heart. The following close-up is a little longer as well. He rubs the heart on his face.

Die Hard 2 - Die Harder

The sequel of the action movie "Die Hard" reaches almost the same cult level as his famous predecessor. Compared to the workprint, the common known R-rated version lacks some plot sequences, as well as some violence-cuts, that probably were required for the US R-rating

Dead Silence

James Wan's second motion picture Dead Silence has been released in two different versions on DVD after his cinema run as well. Compared to his debut feature Saw, Dead Silence doesn't have so many violent scenes. However this wasn't an obstacle for publishing an Unrated version.

Menace II Society
R-Rated - Unrated Criterion LaserDisc
The uncut version of the ghetto drama "Menace II Society" represents a rarity: prior to its release some minor cuts regarding violence were made in order to get the R-Rating. This slighty toned down version was later released in all the different parts of the world, and so in the German speaking parts, too. In 1994 a LaserDisc with the unrated version was released by Criterion in the states. Unforunately it remains till this day the only release of the unrated version and one can only hope that soon a label goes about this version and reissues the movie.
