In the Theatrical Cut the follow-up shot inside the barn begins a little earlier and here you can see Christian coming in.

But Christian should not misuse his (Josh's) own work as a "short cut" for his studies.

Dani and Christian are asked if they want to attend another ceremony. The two agree and in the evening we see another gathering of the group. The shocking aspect here is that (after a first demonstration with a small tree) a young boy is almost thrown into the lake with a stone and other attachments on his body. Dani wants to intervene shortly before, but then the child is released from the crowd as a result of various requests for mercy.

Dani runs away stressed, Christian comes after and a little quarrel ensues when he tries to calm her down. Dani wants to leave and when Christian refuses to do so, he also mentions his plan for the thesis and that he is in a clinch with Josh about it now. It would be a very special privilege to report about these traditions. Dani then thinks that regarding aspects like the senicide from the cliff, on the contrary, they would be quite eager to keep the traditions a secret. Christian again manipulatively mentions that he invited her to this trip after all. After a short hesitation Dani asks if he would still love her at all and mentions that he has been distancing himself from her for quite some time. Christian now mentions an incident with flowers given to him by Dani and accuses her of deliberately making him look bad with such behavior. Thereupon he just walks away and she remains stunned.

Mark's discussion with Pelle about his urination goes on longer. Pelle explains to him that you wouldn't pee on a gravestone after all, implying that Mark's urination on the tree would be comparable. Christian joins in and only laughs/chuckles several times disparagingly about the incident and the reaction of the offended man in the background. The girl which Mark believed to be staring at him tells Pelle that it would be okay. Mark immediately asks Pelle if she also said anything else - so he's obviously more interested in flirting again.

Then Christian goes to Dany and the two reconcile again. Above all Dani apologizes to him. She says that she doesn't want to argue and he agrees.

The old man's still talking to the excited younger one here. Christian asks about the different roles for people within the Hårga. The guy explains that this is due to childhood traits and that the older person became a doctor thanks to his protective instinct. Christian asks if the younger one is ok and the guy comments that he would simply be very sensitive.

In the Theatrical Cut, the two sentences in which Christian asks about the different roles and the guy referring to childhood traits are heard in the seconds before and after this cut.

The conversation in the medium long shot is longer in Director's Cut. Christian says that he hasn't seen Maja yet and that he came has a relationship with Dani after all. The old woman replies that it is not a wedding, Christian wouldn't even be allowed to do that. He asks what exactly it would be all about and is told that he should only mate with her once. Thereupon Christian says that he probably had one of her pubic hairs in his food and the old woman says "Sounds probably right" before she explains that it would also offer unique insights into their sexual rituals. Christian hesitates and doesn't seem to be completely against the idea. He still asks though if he wouldn't be able to get such an insight without participating himself.

In the Theatrical Cut he only mentions the eaten pubic hair instead and gets the short confirmation.
