4.01 Baby, Come Back

Comparison:

  • US Version
  • German Version
Release: May 27, 2015 - Author: Eiskaltes Grab - Translator: DaxRider123 - external link: IMDB - more from this series
Compared are the cut episodes on the US DVD by Lions Gate / FOX and the uncut episodes on the German DVD by Warner Home Video.

The differences:

4 cuts = 2 minutes and 5.5 seconds

One certainly needs to make no words about the hilarious TV show "ALF". Even those who have not seen it have at least heard of it even though it has been quite some time since something new from the ALF universe was released. Anyway, the show consists of 4 seasons and was aired in the late 80s and early 90s. Furthermore, there are two animated series ("ALF: The Animated Series" & ALF Tales) and a motion picture from the mid 90s.

As for the US Versions, a few minutes of each episode were cut for syndication in order to show more commercials. Unfortunately, these syndication versions were also released on DVD. Understandably, the fans were disappointed that the DVDs do not contain the uncut episodes. Whether or not the uncut episodes will be released one day (perhaps on Blu-ray?) is the million dollar question.

The entire conversation between Katherine and the babysitter was cut out:
Katherine: I see you played Tevye's wife in "Fiddler on the Roof!" Well, if those aren't babysitting credentials, I don't know what are!
Babysitter: Thank you!
Suddenly, Eric starts screaming in his room. The babysitter turns to the room for a second and then looks back to Katherine.
Babysitter: I can't stand it when they cry! Could you make it stop!
Katherine: My husband's with him!
Babysitter: Oh!
Katherine: I think I know everything I need to know! Thank you so much for coming by!
Babysitter: Oh, if it's the crying thing, I can wear my Walkman!
Katherine: Goodbye! And I hope you get that part on "Munsters Today!"
Katherine opens the front door and the babysitter walks out.

Alf watches a movie on TV. Suddenly, we can hear Eric screaming over the babyphone which is standing on the table next to Alf. Alf looks at the babyphone.
Alf: Oh, great timing! I'm coming, I'm coming!
He quickly looks at the TV.
Alf: That Scott Baio! He's the next Tony Danza!
Alf switches the TV off and walks to Eric.

While searching for Eric, there is some more dialog between Willie and Alf:
Willie: Maybe he was crying, right, and you picked him up and walked him around to settle him and put him down somewhere and don't remember where!
Alf: Willie, now you're grasping at straws!

Alf: (And here's the real Coupe de Ville! You fired me without even giving me the chance to prove myself! And this was one of the few times I didn't mess up! Way to trust!)
Katherine: I've been unfair to you, Alf!
Alf: Hey, I was doing a really good job before you pulled the rug out!
