Comparison between the TV broadcast on German TV station Nitro on 10.04.2019 (22:50 / international HD master) and the German DVD (featuring the original version) by Kinowelt (FSK 12)
In the comparison of the pilot episode, we have already summarized everything about the problems with the HD remastering of Baywatch, which is different in songs and also censored in nude scenes, at least right at the beginning. In episode 1x04 (Heat Wave), the completely arbitrary seeming exchange of stand-up filler shots takes a little bit of an overabundance. Thus, a large part of the comparison is rather unspectacular, without a special scheme the setup deviates a little bit in several mounting scenes. However, the original version was also simply longer in two places and shows for example Craig's working place from the outside. Most of the runtime difference, however, comes from a completely removed, additional encounter of Eddie with the blonde Roxanne. Much more harmless than the cuts in the clearly sexually inspired scenes of the pilot episode, but here we can again speculate if the sequence, which is extensively staged with focus on the woman's body, might have been deliberately removed. Two last remarks:
As usual, the opening credits deviate and the credits afterwards were also revised. Not included in cut duration/quantity.
HD version 27.6 sec longer Alternative 07:08-07:51 / 06:58-07:43 When Eddie arrives at the beach club, exchanges looks with a blonde (Roxanne) lying there and then Trevor is joining him, the HD master curiously uses alternative takes throughout. Sometimes only recognizable by Eddie's different posture, sometimes completely different perspectives. No time difference
Alternative 07:58-08:00 / 07:51-07:59 In the HD-Master Trevor only leaves in the same shot. In the original version, you see it from a different perspective and he says "Good morning" to Roxanne as he walks by. Original version 6.5 seconds longer
Alternative 09:52-09:58 / 09:56-10:02 After the view of the cars, the first two beach shots deviate. No time difference
Alternative 10:02-10:19 / 10:06-10:24 After two identical shots, a different aerial shot and other alternative material were used until the conversation between Hobie and Steve. No time difference
12:13 / 12:22-12:27 Before you see Craig at his desk, there is a shot of the building and the name plate. 5 sec
Alternative 13:03-13:20 / 13:20-13:38 Again a different song and after two identical shots there's a completely new montage of beach scenes. Matching the snare, there are often several short cuts in both versions, but thanks to the different track they are also at different places. Occasionally, an identical shot can be found here, too, see penultimate picture. The pranks of Mike and Ricky can be seen (despite the song is still playing) without any further reassembly. No time difference
