During the last few years the US TV channel Starz became more and more active in producing series. Their undoubtedly biggest hit so far is Spartacus which consists of 4 seasons and gives the audience a lot of sex and violence. Momentarily, they are looking for a new big hit and they might have found it with the pirate series Black Sails which started off pretty successfully in the USA. Who expects similar excesses as in Spartacus might be disappointed - at least from the first episode. This one is rather reserved in Terms of sex and violence. However, this might Change throughout the season. In order to get the biggest possible amount of Attention, Starz decided to promote the series by releasing the pilot episode on platforms such as iTunes and Youtube one week before airing it on TV. While iTunes included the uncensored version, Youtube showed a heavily censored version on Starz' own channel as well as Machinima. All swear words were taken out, naked breasts were blurred and several scenes of violence were obliterated. This version is the Basis for our report. This is a comparison between the censored TV 14 Version, which was shown on Machinima's Youtube channel and the uncensored TV MA Version which was aired on Starz.
