Comparison between the international version on the German DVD and the original version on the Hong Kong DVD by JoySales / Fortune Star

40 deviations, including
* 7x alternative course
* 10 places where the international version is longer

Difference (without logos + credits): 2:22 min
* Additional material in the original version: 16:02 min
* Additional material in the international version: 13:40 min

The Mad Mission series is one of the most entertaining excesses that Hong Kong cinema left behind for posterity in the 80s in action comedies, apart from the works of even more internationally known faces like Jackie Chan. Especially the first two parts are full of crazy ideas, brilliant situation comedy and above all absurdities, which were ennobled by a really wonderful, unrestrained, flippant synchronisation in Germany. All parts originally appeared in Germany only in the cut international versions.

Despite a very small difference of only 2 minutes in total there is 13.5 minutes of additional material to discover in the international version and vice versa 16 minutes of mainly over-the-top Hong Kong humor were removed. The rivalry between the chief of police and Interpol is discussed more frequently in the original version and, as before, Hatung and Kodijak are allowed to argue much more often. Again they show a bit more action on an international level and also a more racy new introductory sequence.

For the 2nd quarter 2017 new German Blu-ray editions were announced by Digidreams (after they first released only the SD masters of the 5 movies together on one Blu-ray). Here the uncut original versions will probably be offered for the first time (in addition to the well-known international versions). Furthermore you will even find a selfmade integral version at the release. One can be a little skeptical in so far that the Hong Kong Blu-rays contained, as so often with Fortune Star, only SD-Upscales were available so far no real HD master is known. Wait and see.

Thanks for providing the Hong Kong DVD goes to Mr. White !

In the Original Version at the beginning there are only a few company references and credits, then a fade in, which refers to New Zealand.

In the International version it starts instead with a professor walking across the street. A killer watches him from the car and then threatens him briefly with his knife. When his colleague drives up with the car, he accidentally pushes the knife into his stomach. Even shocked, the professor can push him away for a moment and flee.

Then the professor enters a bar and walks towards a young woman. She should call and ask for Sam, whereupon the injured professor digs some change out of his pocket. On the way, the woman is surprised by the killer who knocks her out. A man wants to pick up the phone and the killer shoots at it and finally draws the attention of the whole bar. Now he turns back to the professor and asks for the stone.

As the baddie approaches the door with the professor, Sam suddenly joins him and can put him out of action surprisingly with a dart. Shortly thereafter he shoots him in the hand and accidentally into his own pants, when he puts the pistol away a bit too cool.

The professor then succumbs to his wound and the killer can escape from the bar.The Professor tells Sam with his last strength that the prism is with another professor and that he has to go to him quickly.

It continues in New Zealand, where the killer informs his client by telephone that he has not yet received the prism. The boss is angry and lets his co-presidents explain more about the prism to him. In return the man gets a money suitcase and has to listen to a threat in case something goes wrong. Then they look at the plans with satisfaction.
