In the original version Evonne is present and Tan wants to give her some money. The father is swarming and there is a little discussion about it - she gives the money back and Tan leaves.


At the Celestial Tan comes down and sees something rustling behind a coat stand. But it's not the Evonne he expected, it's the father. Here he tries to give him the money directly and also here the father teems him. But with his flaming speech he made Tan think, which is why he goes to So Fai Lung and angrily asks him what kind of business they are doing. So Fai turns the conversation around quite fast and blames the rival walk of the green tigers for the real problem.

In the Celestial on the other hand you first see another visit of Tan at Yang. He tries to explain to him how he could take such a path and when Yang only provokes him a bit he gets into a fight. Finally Tan breaks another piece of the small door and walks away irritated.

Afterwards So Fai Lung is informed by two henchmen about Tan's last action. Angrily he destroys his wine glass and announces consequences or sets them in motion with a phone call.

A giant-combat-cut that allows two main opponents to die in death scenes that are more familiar from director Chang Cheh and also leaves hero Tan wounded behind.

Howard's helper sets off and is immediately attacked by Tan at the door. In the short fight he is carried down through the railing, then Howard comes running after him shooting. Tan also attacks him and finally breaks his neck. Now he turns back to the helper, who is still lying on the ground - but cab only realise his death and then Tan stabs Tan bloody in the stomach with his knife. But Tan can kill him with a shotgun and staggers outside.

So Fai Lung in the original version is turned around by Yang and finally stabbed in the stomach by Tan. Tan collapses and finally dies in Yang's arms. The girls grieve and Tan tries to pull off his watch but then dies. Yang walks away sadly.


At the Celestial Tan is allowed to fight a bit more and harmless and finally the (only here the minute before announced by siren noises) police comes in and arrests Tan. He gives Yang some words of advise before he is taken away - and hands him his watch here as well. So Fai Lung survives this way and is also taken away.

After the already mentioned bridge scene at 76:18 / 96:28-97:08 you see Yang finally writing a letter to his father in which he reports about his change to Harvard University. The father reads this with satisfaction and looks out the window where other children are going to school.
