Compared are the TV Version and the Extended Version
15 differences, incl. 3x alternate footage
Length difference: 101.9 sec (= 1:42 min)
New season, old problem: Any Blu-ray release worldwide only contains the TV Version of every single episode while, for instance, the US and UK DVDs contain the Extended Versions.
Episode 4x02 (The One With the Cat) contains several smaller additional scenes with a total length of almost 2 minutes. Chandler causes some more laughs and Gunter gets to make a sarcastic comment as well.
Subsequent to the opening credits (+ intrductory exterior shot), the scene at Monica's apartment starts a little earlier.
Ross: "Hey, why did the chicken fall out of the tree?"
Ross: "Because you have doody on your head."
He laughs until he realizes: "Yeah, it was funnier when Ben told it."
When Monica starts checking her messages, the shot starts much earlier in the TV Version.
Extended Version 13.8 sec longer
The shot of the cat walking in starts earlier in the TV Version while the previous shot of Chandler is a little longer.
TV Version 1.6 sec longer
The TV Version here contains some kind of transitional shot of Chandler and Joey.
The Extended Version contains additional dialog instead.
Phoebe: "Gunther Gunther, there's a kitty in my guitar case."
Gunther: "Shh! Everyone's gonna want one."
He walks away.
Extended Version 6.8 sec longer
In the Extended Version, Chandler makes an additional comment about Phoebe's imagination that her mother will keep on living as the cat: "Well, that makes the fact that she owns beach-front property all the more impressive."
In the TV Version, the subsequent shot of Phoebe starts a little earlier (no screenshots).
Extended Version 4.1 sec longer
Ross also says: "You had me with orange felt."
Chandler expresses his cluelessness by making a gesture.
As response to Monica's dismissive comment, Rachel says: "Oh, yeah, you're right, Moni-cow."
Monica admits: "OK, I hear you."
Subsequent to a shot of the others, Phoebe makes another statement regarding the cat: "Anyway, I don't want to do it in front of someone with a tail."
Chandler pretends to have a tail as well: "Hey, you swore you would never tell."
After Rachel's comment about Jurassic Park, the TV Version continues with a shot of her.
In the Extended Version, se keeps provoking: "And you know what? Actually, I do think Kirk was smarter than Spock."
Extended Version 6.8 sec longer
While the TV Version transitions to the following exterior shot as soon as Ross has left the room, the scene is not over yet in the Extended Version.
Chandler: "You were kidding about the Kirk-Spock-thing, though right?"
Rachels reaction is a little iffy.
Chandler picks up the sheet and says: "Wait a minute. This is not the same cat. This cat's only this big."
His gesture is also visible at the beginning of the subsequent shot which is also when the versions are back in sync.
Black screen in the TV Version due to a commercial break.
The Extended Version contains an additional exterior shot of the Central Perk instead. Furthermore, the subsequent shot starts a little earlier as well (the flyer in Joey's hand is still unfolded).
Extended Version 3.2 sec longer
One last shot of Rachel and Chip in the TV Version - smooth transition to the following scene included.
In the Extended Version, Monica comes out of her room instead: "Hi."
Chip: "Hey. Well, you look great."
Monica: "Thanks. Aww."
Rachel: "Well, you guys have fun."
Chip: "Catch you later."
Rachel: "Bye, Chip. "
Monica: "Are you sure you're okay about this?"
Rachel wants to say something: "Actually...."
But Monica interrupts by hugging her: "Okay, great."
Extended Version 15.2 sec longer
In the Extended Version Chip also says: "Oh, you know who came in the other night? Peters. Told me that he just went out with Leslie Maskin. Got to third base."
He makes a gesture and Monica imitates that.
The TV Version contains a different shot of Chip instead.
Extended Version 10.2 sec longer
Earlier in Chandler's/Joey's apartment.
Joey: "You know, with all our stuff gone, the unit doesn't seem that big."
Chandler realizes: "Why couldn't he have been a kidnapper."
Alternate take of Joey and Chandler sitting in the canoe. Only in the Extended Version, Chandler says (while Joey has his eyes closed): "You know......it's peaceful out here."
Then a rowing motion by Joey.
Extended Version 1.9 sec longer
