2.13 The One After the Superbowl Part 2

Comparison:

  • TV Version
  • Extended Version
Release: Feb 28, 2014 - Author: Muck47 - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB - more from this series
Compared are the TV Version and the Extended Version.

29 differences, among them 4 with alternative footage, 1 recut and 1 longer scene in the TV Version
Length difference: 117.3 sec (= 1:57 min)

The Blu-ray release only contains the TV versions of the episodes, as was the case with the first season. Those who know the DVD releases from the USA or Great Britain will surely miss the extended versions, which can be found on these DVDs.

Episode 2x13 (The One After the Superbowl Part Two is the second and last part of the two-parter which is one long(er) episode in the Extended Version.
Minus the regular opening credits from the TV Version, the Extended Version is approx. 2.5 minutes longer split into almost 30 (*cough* and thanks to the huge figure annoying to document) differences. Lots of penny-ante stuff - sometimes funny, sometimes not so much. There are many frame cuts indicating that the TV Version has been cut for time reasons. When guest star Julia Roberts is talking about masturbation in an extended scene, it might as well indicate censoring. The longer scene with Rachel, Monica & the second guest star Jean-Claude Van Damme at the end of the episode might have been cut for the same reason.

Longer exterior shot in the Extended Version plus Ross and Rachel on set a second earlier.

TV Version longer

Before Susie gets called to the set (a few frames earlier in the TV Version - no screens), she's having a chat with Chandler.

Chandler: "No, Stephen Hurs was the kid who would eat anything for money, David Stein was the guy who had no elbows."
Susie: "OK, well then who was the kid that got caught masturbating?"
Chandler: "OK, that's not what he was doing. All right, he was looking for his bus money."

At the end, the scene is significantly longer: Joey and Ross are talking.

He gives Ross his hand and squeezes it a little. After a short moment, Joey says: "You know what?"
Ross: "What?"
Joey: "Did we pass the moment where we should have stopped holding hands?"
Ross: "Oh, yeah!"
They panically let go.

The TV Version on the other hand cuts to a high-angle shot before she then says she was in the mood for him now from the same angle.

Van Damme: "I'm sorry it didn't work out between you and me, or you and me. Drew was very disappointed."
Rachel: "OK, well, bye."
She dearly kisses him and Van Damme repeats: "Goodbye."
Monica kisses him, too: "Well, bye for me too."
Rachel is getting jealous again and kisses him again: "OK, well, bye-bye again."
Monica: "OK."
Van Damme: "Perhaps, uh, the three of us just could..."
Rachel: "Oh, no, no, no, no, no."
Van Damme: "Are you sure? I can crush a walnut with my butt..."
Monica and Rachel: "No, no, no, no."
Rachel: "Impressive."
Monica: "But no. Maybe if I were baking."
