Compared are the cut episodes on the US DVD by Lions Gate / FOX and the uncut episodes on the German DVD by Warner Home Video.

The differences:

4 cuts = 2 minutes and 5.5 seconds

One certainly needs to make no words about the hilarious TV show "ALF". Even those who have not seen it have at least heard of it even though it has been quite some time since something new from the ALF universe was released. Anyway, the show consists of 4 seasons and was aired in the late 80s and early 90s. Furthermore, there are two animated series ("ALF: The Animated Series" & ALF Tales) and a motion picture from the mid 90s.


As for the US Versions, a few minutes of each episode were cut for syndication in order to show more commercials. Unfortunately, these syndication versions were also released on DVD. Understandably, the fans were disappointed that the DVDs do not contain the uncut episodes. Whether or not the uncut episodes will be released one day (perhaps on Blu-ray?) is the million dollar question.

After Alf said that two ants in his ant farm got married, he starts humming a typical wedding song. He gets up from the kitchen table and walks out of the kitchen with his ant farm while singing. Willie and Katherine look at each other and start to laugh.

After Willie and Lynn spotted Alf's dead ants, Alf joins them a little later while singing. Alf's appearance is not included in the US Version.

Willie talks to Alf a little longer about losing his ants:
Willie: People always need a reason when they've had a loss! Guilt, it's a very natural reaction!
Alf: Yeah? What about anger?
Willie: It's very common!
Alf (angry): Well, good! Because I'm peeved at you for getting me that ant farm in the first place!
Willie: That's good, Alf! Let it out! Let it all out!
Alf (angry): I'm also mad at you for not getting me a horse! Horses are more resilient when it comes to direct sunlight!
Willie: Keep going on! Are you angry at anyone else?
Alf (angry): Yeah, now that you mention it! CBS for pulling the plug on "Frank's Place"!
Willie: Feeling better?
Alf: Actually, no!

Alf is sitting in the living room and reads a letter. Lynn joins him and wants to know what he is reading.
Alf: A letter from "The Morton Downey Show!"..."Dear Mr. Shumway, thank you for your recent suggestion, that we devote a segment to the civil rights of ants!"... Yes! Yes!... "Unfortunately we find the topic unsuitable for our current needs!"... No! No!
Lynn: Wait, there's more!
Lynn takes the letter and starts reading it out: "We are, however, very interested in having you appear on an upcoming segment entitled: 'Obsessive-Compulsives With Too Much Time on Their Hands!'"
Alf: And Willie said I was crazy to send that letter!
Lynn puts the letter back on the table and leaves the screen. Meanwhile, Alf takes another look at the letter.
