Comparison between the TV Version and the Extended Version.
9 differences, among of them 4 with alternate footage Length difference: 88.8 sec (= 1:29 min) All Blu-ray releases of this cult series unfortunately only contain the TV-Version of all of the episodes. Viewers who already know the Extended Versions from the DVD boxes will miss the additional footage. Considering this is the season finale, there is quite a lot of additional footage in episode 3x25 (The One at the Beach): approx. 1.5 minutes. Especially Chandler's hints at Monica are interesting - considering the course of events in subsequent seasons. Other than that, there are several altered exterior shots but that is probably just a result of the HD conversion. 02:15-02:17
Black screen after the opening in the TV Version. + 1.7 sec 02:21-02:22 After the identical transition, the scene outside the Central Perk starts earlier in the Extended Version. Chandler kommt dazu; "Hey." Monica: "Hey." Chandler: "Joey will be right down. He's just looking for his mask." Monica: "A swim mask?" Chandler sarcastically: "No, his gorilla mask. He, ah, wears it in the ocean to scare off the fish." The following shot starts a few frames earlier in the TV Version (no screenshots). Extended Version 9.7 sec longer
05:01 Extended shot of the group entering the room. There is also a little discussion whether or not Monica would get involved with one of the boys (especially with Chandler). Chandler: "Ah, you know what this reminds me of? Umm, why couldn't I be your boyfriend?" Monica: "Are you still on that?" Chandler: "Uh-huh." Joey: "Would you let it go already?" Monica: "Thank you, Joey." Joey: "But you'd go out with me, right?" Monica: "No. It's the same as with Chandler. We're friends." Joey: "Woah, ah, let's say that we are the last two guys on the face of the planet and you have a gun to your head. Which one would you pick?" Monica: "Which one of you has the gun to my head?" 26.2 sec
Alternate 06:54-06:56 Alternate exterior shot as transition. no difference
07:16 Chandler makes a comment about Joey's strip poker rule: "Well, it's not a law. As long as it stays attached to that tax reform bill, it will never be, mister!" 5.7 sec
09:17 More dialog at the end of the scene. Monica: "Chandler! Why, all of a sudden, do you wanna play strip poker?" Chandler: "I think because of margaritas three, four, and nine." 8.1 sec
Alternate 09:17-09:18 Subsequently, another alternate exterior shot. no difference
11:46-11:48 Black screen due to a commercial break in the TV Version. Then an additional exterior shot in the Extended Version. + 1.6 sec Alternate 14:12-14:14 And again, an altered exterior shot. no difference
14:14-14:15 Subsequently, the exterior scene starts earlier. Chandler just can't let it go, so he keeps going on and on about Monica's feelings for him. Chandler: "I know I've asked you this before." Monica: "A hundred times before!" Chandler: "How am I not right for you?" Monica: "I don't know. I like guys like Richard. Or Pete, before he went insane. I don't know. Just somebody more mature." Chandler (with a childish voice): "Oh, so I'm not mature enough for you? Monica needs somebody more mature."
Then a close-up of Phoebe in the Extended Version while the corresponding distance shot starts earlier in the TV Version.
Extended Version 25.1 sec longer Alternate 15:23-15:25 Alternate shot of Ross and Bonnie. Only in the Extended Version, she looks up and Ross looks back at her nervously. Extended Version 3.5 sec longer
22:20 Chandler is screwing around in front of Monica's door again resp. she opens the door one more time and as before, he is not capable of speaking in whole sentences. She opens and Chandler stutters: "I can only do it with the voice now. Okay, okay. Close the door!" 10.4 sec
