While shooting it, no one seems to have expected this comedy to be so successful at the box office. After the hype caused by the trailer, however, Warner unexpectedly decided to announce a sequel even before the first part had ever gained one Dollar at the box office. Warner was proven right, as the movie ended up being a flick with an extraordinary amount of gags in an inventive plot. Zach Galifianakis, in his mixture of slightly insane and childish, is seen by many as the secret star of the movie. This together with the cameo of a singing Mike Tyson is lifting this movie over the the average.
In England, however, the movie was released in a censored version in theaters and on DVD. The reason for that is the photos in the end credits. On four of them, you see Alan getting a blow job by an elderly woman. This would have led to a BBFC 18 rating, so the studio decided to blur those pictures to obtain a more profitable BBFC 15 rating. In other countries, the movie was released uncensored.
The versions compared are the censored UK DVD (BBFC 15) and the uncensored DVD version, represented by the German DVD, both released by Warner Bros.
During the end credits of the UK version, four photos have been censored which show Alan getting a blow job from an elderly woman.
