Synopsis of Five Loose Women aka Fugitive GirlsThis was not how Dee had imagined her nookie with her fleeting acquaintance. After a hot session, her lover wants to quench his thirst with some alcohol, but when Dee waits in the car in front of the liquor store, her mate not only gets the whiskey, but robs the whole store. When the grandfather behind the counter doesn't obey, he is shot without further ado and the unwilling Dee is pushed out of the car. As a participant in the robbery, Dee ends up in Minimum Women's Prison and meets the lesbian Kat, the nymphomaniac Toni, loudmouth Paula and sexy Sheila. Kat quickly makes it clear that Dee is now at her disposal and in a heated night she turns Dee into a downright lesbian. More or less involuntarily, Dee is forced to take part in an escape. On their escape, the five women first meet a group of hippies who, after a short argument, willingly give them their dirty clothes. Toni has it in for a Cadillac driver, whom she forces to have sex with before the women take off in his car. The robbery of the farmhouse of Vietnam veteran Phil, who is in a wheelchair, proves to be fatal. The violence escalates when Phil's wife is about to be abused. When one of the five women, who just broke out of prison, argue with a group of hippies about organic food and they tear off their lousy T-shirts a little later, only trash guru Ed Wood himself can have had influence on the action. Stephen C. Apostolof, who had already filmed Ed Wood's Orgy of the Dead, again works with a script by Wood, with the usual exploitative elements, a strongly abstracted view of female sexuality and at times outrageous dialogues and story twists. Thus, the film vividly shows us that a woman's sexual orientation can be changed with gentle pressure without any problems. With garlic powder, police dogs lose their scent or the evening ritual of any hippie group consists of the women dancing naked around the campfire. The racist nymphomaniac Toni rethinks her point of view when she and the African-American Paula seduce a man to have sex against his will and gas station attendant Pop learns that it is not a good idea to call the sheriff by phone when the fugitives are within earshot. These are just a handful of examples, which should make the abstruse elements of the movie a bit clearer. If you are ready to dive into the wild world of Ed Wood, then Five Loose Women is the place to be. Thanks to the oestrogen-surplus of the female delinquents, the sexploitation-elements never miss out at any point. With bare-breasted hippies, lice in T-shirts and lesbian flirtations, the naked reality is bouncing around on the screen. An absolute trash-exploitation masterpiece which is highly recommended. The Dutch VHS is slightly differentThe uncut version was released in the US by Vinegar Syndrome in a Blu-ray/DVD combo. The Dutch VHS by Via Video has two differences compared to the US version. Right at the beginning, a few seconds are missing and a part of the scene where Toni and Paula abuse the Cadillac driver is simply repeated. Both can probably be attributed to sloppiness. The Dutch VHS is 4:3 open matte and shows more at the top and bottom of the screen. There are short film tears of one or two seconds during reel changes, which are not listed in the report.
