Little Deaths is a British production that was made in 2011 and is comprised out of 3 episodes with absurdly twisted stories that all have in common that they show sexuality in a rather sick fashion. However, that is so abstract that it manages to entertain the viewer just by its bulkiness. If you can accept what you are served, you can actually enjoy the episodic work, even though it's not really material for an evening with buddies like the V/H/S franchise.

The aforementioned sexual violence was a problem with the BBFC, though. Their guidelines are strictly against this sort of content and led to several films being censored in order to get a rating. In contrast to other countries, a classification by the BBFC is mandatory if a distributor wants to release a film in England's retail. In order to obtain the BBFC 18 rating, a scene had to undergo changes because the board members identified sadistic humiliation in it. That should explain the 2 cuts (3 if you add the urinating scene). But apart from that, distributor Monster Pictures made even more changes to the film that has several scenes with the explicit depiction of male nudity and sperm. There's usage of alternate material in 2 of the 3 episodes. It makes some shots more harmless but sometimes it's not very clear whether it really has the desired effect (e.g. close vs. distant shot, where you can actually see more). So it's partly understandable why the distributor chose to label this release as Exclusive Director's Cut". Still, it's rather misleading since some customers might think that this wording is a hint at something positively exclusive when all they really get is a censored film.

If you want to own Little Deaths in its uncensored form, you can choose between the US DVD which is labeled "unrated" or you can purchase it in Germany. This release by distributor Sunfilm is Region 2, has an English audio track and is available on DVD and Blu-ray. Attention: it has been re-named for the German market to Obsession - Tödliche Spiele.
