Compared were the shortened UK-VHS by CBS / Fox (BBFC 18) and the shortened R-Rated-DVD by Anchor Bay.
53 seconds within 6 scenes are missing.
The first part of the Sleepaway Camp film series does not seem to be easily released in the uncut version. In Germany and the UK, it was only released cut. The same is true for the USA with the exception of the VHS by Anchor Bay and Media Home Entertainment. In the UK-DVD and the US-DVD the same scenes are affected by the cuts as you can see in this comparison. However, the UK-tape has been cut differently and more strongly but contains the missing scenes of both the UK and the US-DVD. In Canada, a fully uncut version has been released on DVD by the label Legacy Entertainment.
In the shortened Version you can see the chef screaming with burnings in his face only for a short period of time. In the uncut version, there are more shots of this as well as some intermediate cuts showing Ben who looks down on him being horrified.
Another shot of the slit open Judy and two other ones of the camp leader.
Here, once more, we have another shot of Judy’s dead body on the ground and of the camp leader who walks out of the image soon afterwards.
When Angela is being found on the beach together with the dead Ricky, she jumps up from the ground. The UK-version sets in again when Ricky’s disembodied head falls over.
A close-up view of Angela’s face is missing. For reasons of continuity, one shot of the supervisors is missing as well.
The same again.
