A comparison between the US DVD by Anchor Bay (theatrical version / R-rated) and the US DVD by Anchor Bay (Director's Cut / Not Rated).
There are 117 differences taking up 15 minutes and 19 seconds. 97 cuts in the theatrical version = 15 minutes and 12 seconds. 2 cuts in the Director's Cut: = +10 seconds. 14 alternative cuts = theatrical version: +105.5 sec. / DC: 93.5 Sek = +12 sec. 3 recuts = +13 seconds. alternative ending = theatrical version: +155 sec / DC: 197 sec = 42 seconds. The last part of the Evil Dead trilogy was released simultaneously as a longer Director's Cut and a shorter R-rated version in the US and the R-rated one was the one shown in theaters. There are about 115 differences between the Director's Cut and the R-rated version and it's about 15 minutes shorter. Missing shots shorter than one second weren't listed in this article. One of the Mini-Ashs tips the bucket over, which lands directly on Ash's head. The liquid spreads all over the floor and Ash keeps on slipping on it. The Mini-Ashs set up a trap and get closer to him, holding a broom, which he of course trips over and falls backwards, landing with his but on the stove top, the pain of which makes him scream loudly. When trying to get up, he hits his head against a pipe and collapses on the floor. Now, he takes the bucket off of his head and discovers a Mini-Ash near the fire place and knocks him into the fire by knocking against the block of wood. When he sees another Mini-Ash sneaking away, he gets up suddenly and hits his head again against the pipe. Enraged, he hits the pipe and gets a face full of soot, while the Mini-Ashs are having a blast because of this. 81 sec

Alternative Ending: 72 min R-rated: The Ash vs Zombie - Ending: Ash is back in his store and tells his bored colleague (Ted Raimi) about his adventurous experience. Then, you see Ash tagging home appliances, when he suddenly notices a young woman standing next to him. The woman tells him, that she overheard the story about his time travel back into the past and thinks it's totally hot. Suddenly, a dark atmosphere creeps through the store and a female zombie appears behind Ash and the woman, who knocks Ash down with one punch. When the zombie wants to attack the woman, Ash intervenes and kills the zombie with punches, kicks and some shots from his shotgun. Proudly, Ash puts away his shotgun and pulls the young woman towards him to kiss her. The End. +155 sec
Director's Cut: The Ash is sleeping too long - Ending: Ash walks into a cave, while some knights push his car into it. He blasts the entrance shut with some dynamite and gets comfortable in his car and takes some of the sleeping tonic. Whilst taking it, he is distracted by a noise and thus takes more drops than advised. After he falls into a deep sleep, many years pass. When it's over, Ash awakens and runs toward the entrance of the cave. He puts away the rocks one by one and goes outside, as soon as the exit is clear. But he is shocked to find out, that his hometown isn't what it used to be and that he slept far too long because of the additional drops he took. Stunned, he collapses screaming. The End. 197 sec
