(06:43)3 seconds of Nora's conversation with Marcello are missing in the Italian Version. Subsequently, there is a transition scene in which she reads and smokes again. She also is worried about the storm. Furthermore, she gets ready to go to bed and she can't shake the feeling that she is being watched - the eyes of a painting are moving here. For this reason, she puts a veil over the painting. This is completely missing in the Italian Version. Difference: 3:10 minutes !
(11:57) In the murder scene, the shot of the body being dragged away is missing. In the Italian Version, she watches everything as if she was under a spell. Approx. 20 seconds are missing in the US Version.
In the following scene, Nora is lying on the ground woozily and the camera shows her eyes. This scene has a length of 11 seconds and it is missing in the US Version.
(18:43) When Nora tells her Marcello about the murder she witnessed, the US Version is shorter. 26 seconds are missing. For continuity reasons, the scenes of the spooky hug are shows in a different order plus one scene is missing. Then the versions are back in sync.
(24:41) There are smaller differences in the scene of Miss Torrero's apartment. In the Italian Version, Nora is earlier on the phone and the picture on the piano is not being shown yet. 10 seconds.
(26:05) Now the picture on the piano in the Italian Version. Here, it just fades away while the US Version does not start until it is vanished. This makes up for the missing 10 seconds from the previous cut.
(30:20) More dialog during dinner. Difference only a few frames.
(31:34) After dinner, a scene with Nora and the Professor is missing in the Italian Version. The latter takes another chance but Nora is more interested in the murder. Here, the last name is an issue. Length difference: 1:15 Min.
(39:25) When Marcello shows her Rome in order to get rid of evil thoughts, a few sequences are missing in either of the versions (not to mention the missing voice-over). Also, the order of the scene is different. There is a scene with Marcello (John Saxon) in which he first walks and then raises his right arm Hitler style in order to amuse Nora. This scene could have been removed for censorship reasons. The total difference is 12 seconds because either of the versions make up for some of the missing footage.
(47:09) When the tape is being found, the US Version lacks a small scene of the camera zooming out. 2.5 seconds
(48:47) During the private investigation, a small scene is missing in the Italian Version. Nora charmingly asks Marcello to wait for her, he is hoping to get some. 8 seconds
(49:20) When the two of them are talking to the hotelier, a small reference to using a no-tell motel / prostitution, which upsets Marcello, is missing. 8 seconds
(50:33) When relaxing at the beach, the US Version lacks the sequence with Nora Davis at the beach. 20 seconds In the following scene, Marcello just keeps kissing her, which is shorter in the Italian Version. In the US Version, they are having fun in the water while the US Version already transitions. Difference: another 7 seconds.
