"American Samurai" was unusually heavily shortened for an R-Rating in the USA. In Britain, however, the Unrated version was released on VHS containing all the scenes the MPAA complained about. - So, to this day the tape is a popular way of seeing the movie uncut.
But also the UK version is not entirely complete: the BBFC demanded the shortening of one single scene to receive the BBFC 18 Rating. Even though the movie does contain some heavy splatter scenes only an insignificant little shot of a weapon was removed. Before the loosening of the BBFC-guidelines a few years ago such cuts were pretty common in the UK to keep children from imitating the playing with weapons. 1 cut = 1 sec 0.31.22 - The bar fight
