Comparison between the UK DVD version (provided by German DVD by Columbia) and the US DVD including the theatrical version (represented by the Superbit DVD by Columbia).

To fit BBFC conditions the film had to be altered in one scene to get a PG rating. As before Columbia didn't create an uncensored PAL-master so the altered version has been released throughout Europe (this has happened with Men In Black as well as Peter Pan).


But there's more: even the RC3-DVD's are equipped with said altered master, even though those DVD's are in NTSC! Therefore the only uncensored DVD's to date are the US releases.


The alteration has not been remarked on the BBFC's homepage because Columbia censored the movie prior to certification to secure the PG rating.

To fit BBFC conditions a shot of Spider-Man clouting Doc Ock had to be exchanged with another shot of Spidy and Doc Ock falling down. Some people interpret a punch into the hectic imagery.
