  • Extended Version

Compared are the TV Version and the Extended Version

13 differences, incl. 8x alternate footage
Length difference: 120.1 sec (= 2:00 min)

New season, old problem: Any Blu-ray release worldwide only contains the TV Version of every single episode while, for instance, the US and UK DVDs contain the Extended Versions.

Episode 4x11 (The One with Phoebe's Uterus) is two minutes longer. In addition to the a lot of small gags at the sidelines, the subplot regarding Phoebe's affection for a puppy is much longer. Also, two scenes about female orgasm are longer. So all in all, this is one of the more interesting Extended Versions.
In the first minute, the image section differs resp. the shots in the TV Version have been shot from a further distance. Contentwise, the versions are identically equal though.

TV Version (Blu-ray)Extended Version

Alternate
01:34-01:36

Prior to the opening credits, the TV Version only contains a shot of Alice and Frank jr.

The Extended Version contains additional dialog instead.

Alice: "We know - we know it's a lot to ask. We don't have anyone else to go to. We could pay someone to do it but we don't have that kind of money."
Frank Jr.: "Plus, y'know, you're family and, y'know. I don't know. I just don't want my baby to grow into some chick I don't know, y'know?"
Alice: "Don't give us an answer yet, but think about it. And, umm, if you say no, we will totally understand."
Phoebe: "Okay. Okay."
Frank Jr.: "Oh, and also, we were wondering if you could give us a ride down to the train station. Well, actually, we kind of need an answer to that one right now."

Extended Version 40.2 sec longer

02:22-02:23

07:01

Chandler's comment about Joey's qualities in the sheets is more explicit in the Extended Version: "(So either he's great in bed or she just liked to agree with him a lot.) Loudly and a lot! All night long she'd agree!"

In the TV Version, the subsequent shot starts insignificantly earlier (no screenshots).

Extended Version 7.9 sec longer

Alternate
09:48-09:55

Phoebe sr. realizes in the Extended Version: "I really shouldn't have given you the puppy first."
Phoebe: "That's ok. No, we're listening."

Also, an alternate take is being used for the subsequent (and identically equal) comment.

Extended Version 10.2 sec longer

TV Version (Blu-ray)Extended Version

Alternate
09:57-10:00

At this point, Phoebe sr. gets to realize "I really shouldn't have given you the puppy first" in the TV Version - the take is alternate though. Then a smooth transition.

In the Extended Version, Phoebe says instead: "Okay, fair enough. Three days."
In the background, some kind of timer is ringing and Phoebe Sr. says: "Oh, it's time to take my ass out of the kiln."

Extended Version 4.5 sec longer

TV Version (Blu-ray)Extended Version

Rachel: "Okay. We'll, I've never had lunch with the shipping clerks...but it's totally different. They're not allowed in the executive cafeteria. Oh. I see-I see what you're saying. "

14.1 sec

13:05-13:06

In the Extended Version, the scene with Phoebe playing with the puppy starts earlier: "Who's my puppy? Who's my puppy? Who's my puppy?"
Monica: "Have you named him yet?"
Phoebe: "No, I don't want to get attached."
Rachel: "Can I hold him?"
Phoebe: "Sure. Here."
Rachel: "Come here, squirmy. Hello..."
Phoebe does not like it one bit and grabs her puppy instantaneously: "Not like that. No."

In the TV Version, the subsequent shot starts insignificantly earlier (no screenshots).

Extended Version 17.4 sec longer

Alternate

The TV Version contains a small medium long shot.

They look at each other clueless, then they return to their rooms resp. Chandler goes into the bathroom.

Joey is flattered and raises his hand: "Yeah. That-that was me."

17.6 sec

Just like at the beginning, the image section differs in minutes 19 and 20. Once again, the Extended Version is closer to the action when Phoebe leaves the dog with Frank jr. and Alice.
