Comparison between the R-rated version (US DVD by Full Moon) and the Director's Cut (UK Blu-ray by 88 Films).

Since the prince still hasn't found a wife on his 21st birthday, he is threatened with the loss of the entire kingdom. His advisors' attempt to lose his virginity to a girl fails as the prince falls in love with the portrait of a lost princess. Alone he makes a journey to the land of the fairies to search for the princess. On his journey he meets Little Bo Peep who has lost her sheep, Jack and Jill, who roll down a hill and finally Gussie Gander, who runs a brothel in her shoe. The pimp Sirus wants to arouse the prince's lust with a magic potion because he is about to meet the last remaining virgin of Gussie Gander. Is this the missing princess?

Fairy Tales is often mentioned in the same breath as Cinderella, which was released a year earlier and was both produced by Charles Band and are musical parodies of well-known fairy tales. If you liked Cinderella, you should have a look here even if many of the parodied fairy tales/children's rhymes are rather unknown in this country. Little Bo Peep loses first her sheep, then her panties, Jack and Jill fall down the mountain, because Jill tries in vain to get the homosexual Jack to have sex and The Old_Woman_Who_Lived_in_a_Shoe runs a brothel in which Snow White enjoys herself with the seven dwarves every night. The musical numbers are very well done, the humor and especially the jokes work and the female actors usually drop their clothes quickly.

On VHS and DVD the film appeared only in the censored R-rated version which is also available in the 1.33:1 Pan&Scan image format. For the Blu-ray release in the USA by Full Moon and in England by 88 Films the film was restored by the camera negative, this time in the longer Directors Cut. Especially the scenes about sexual intercourse were shortened, especially the scenes with "Peeping Tom" watching an orgy. The scenes were either shortened or completely removed. Also the meeting of the mistress with the prince at the beginning of the movie and his flirting with the princess at the end were shortened. Because of the picture format alone but not least because of the cuts, one should avoid the old DVD release. Somewhat annoying is the fact that the Blu-ray lacks a scene in which Sheherazade drops her red scarf as she dances for the King.
