Comparison between the R-Rated Version and the Unrated Version, both taken from the US DVD by New Line Cinema.
The differences: 28 cuts = 2 minutes and 36,5 seconds. 6 alternative scenes = 16,5 seconds +Unrated. After the eight part, "Jason takes Manhattan", was a big failure and the least successful part of the series, several changes were made to the worn out template for the movies. Instead of sending Jason murdering through Camp Crystal Lake, the producers decided to give him the abilty to jump from host to host after being blown up, using the new bodies to keep on murdering. James Cunningham was also on board for the first time after directing the first movie of the series, however, he only acted as producer, the director being the rather unknown Adam Marcus. Unfortunately, Jason Goes to Hell was only a tiny bit more successful than its predecessor. And the series went further downward. The next part, "Jason X", which was released eight years later, was – despite some more drastic changes (Jason in space!) – the least profitable of all the Jason movies. There are four different versions of "Jason goes to Hell". Both the uncut Unrated and the heavily cut (in both violence and sex scenes) R-Rated version were released in the US on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD. Unfortunately, the BR release only contains the cut version. A third version is the one on the German FSK 18 VHS by Marketing Film, which basically is the R-Rated version with an additional alternative scene. Last but not least there also is a rare workprint. 14 min The forensic scientist can be seen biting greedily into Jason's heart (two shots). 13 sec

26 min Luke drinks from his flask while his girlfriend Debrah hugs him. He then turns around and the two kiss. The R-Rated shows the two approaching the tent instead, however, only he gets in and she goes back to Alexis. R-Rated: 4 sec Unrated: 13,5 sec
26 min Alexis looks to Luke and Debrah and starts laughing. The kiss and go to the tent. He goes in while she goes back to Alexis (this could partially already be seen in the R-Rated version). 13 sec
28 min "Jason" can be seen attacking Alexis with the razor blade. 3 sec
30 min Luke and Debrah kiss in the tent. After a while, he pulls down her slip and they continue to kiss. "Jason" watches them from afar. 32 sec
31 min Several shots of the two having sexual course are missing. There are also some cuts to "Jason" approaching the tent. 28 sec
31 min The Unrated shows an exterior shot of the tent and then Debrah during sex. The R-Rated shows a different exterior shot and "Jason" stepping on the empty condom wrapping, both shots could be seen in the unrated version already. R-Rated: 3 sec Unrated: 2,5 sec
31 min Another part of the sex scene is missing, "Jason"'s shadow can be seen on the tent as well. 5 sec
31 min The frontal shot of Debrah being impaled during sex is missing. 1 sec

31 min The R-Rated still shows Jason pulling up the metal rod but not how he effectively splits Debrah in two. Luke can be seen screaming and being splattered again. The R-Rated only shows the last of these shots, which is also missing the beginning. No difference in running time

66 min "Jason" is beig hit in the head by the bullet. Blood splatters agans the wall behind him. 0,5 sec
