Comparison:

  • Theatrical Version
  • Extended Version
Release: Jun 29, 2019 - Author: IamAlex - Translator: Asphyxia - external link: IMDB
This is a comparison between the theatrical version and the extended version.

Overall, the extended version is longer, even though it is not a complete version. As you will see, the theatrical version includes some exclusive material, which means that fans might be interested in owning both versions. One could really talk about alternative versions since there is hardly any scene that had not been altered. Since both versions include some cuts, we will list both timecodes below. Cuts in the extended version will be highlighted in red, cuts in the theatrical version in blue.

(Note: The biggest difference already within the first cut results from the fact that the DVD runs in PAL and thus faster than the Blu-ray.)

Lets have a closer look at the differences:

17 cuts in the extended version
60 cuts in the theatrical version
16 scenes with alternative audio
1 scene with alternative filters
1 scene with an alternative plot
8 scenes with alternative footage without any difference in time
3 scenes with alternative footage where the extended version is longer
2 scenes with alternative footage where the theatrical version is longer
7 scenes with alternative cut without any differnce in time
6 scenes with alternative cut where the extended version is longer
2 scenes with alternative cut where the extended version is longer
5 scenes with alternatively ordered/re-added scenes

The extended version misses out on 1 minute and 49 seconds of footage.
The theatrical version misses out on 6 minutes and 22 seconds of footage.

When Jensen says to Miller, "I've heard a lot of good things about her."
will be recut to the two of them in the theatrical version. In the extended version the scene runs through in one. Furthermore he says the following "Well we need them" fluently. In the extended version there is a short pause after the "Tja" in which he looks back and forth between the two.
Theatrical Version:Extended Version:

No difference in time.

Extended Version:0:07:56
Theatrical Version:0:08:25
Alternative Cut:

After Jense's sentence "Major Mallory has a certain experience" the theatrical version cuts to Mallory and you immediately hear Barnsby's sentence "I don't doubt it" from off screen. In the extended version Barnsby is cut instead, who looks over to Mallory and then says his sentence. But for that there is an intermediate cut on Mallory in the extended version of his following sentence "But it's not about a cheerful weekend trip, sir", while he says the sentence in the theatrical version in one shot.
