Since the mid 90s, RP Kahl has directed numerous short films and several feature films apart from mainstream movies found their fans. A lot of nudity and real intercourse were also part of Bedways (2010) and he did it again with A Thought of Ecstasy (2017) that was released for German home theaters on 08/23/2018. Kahl himself plays a guy who is searching for a woman in Death Valley, California. A woman used to be in love with years ago. The result is are surreal images that show him having sex with some mysterious woman (resp. several that is). The sex scenes are rather explicit hence the German "FSK 18"rating.

For further distribution - particularly via Video on Demand - a Censored Version with the lower "FSK 16" rating was edited as well. The Censored Version lacks almost 3 minutes and it is available as bous on the German Special Edition. Besides some rather harmless full frontal nudity and (insinuated) BDSM, the Censored Version basically lacks the entire HC footage. At least, the cuts are not too rough which makes the action on the screen still logical/comprehensible.

That being said, both the Censored Version and Uncensored Version should be considered as Director's Cuts because director RP Kahl himself edited the Censored Version as well and everything he changed has been done intentionally
