First, a picture of Viv, the scee then fades to black. In the International Version, one now gets to see the opening.
Only the UK Version contains footage of the wake at Luigi's.
Luigi asks one of the guests: "More wine?"
Then Gene and his team.
Gene: "I remember when we were evicted from paradise and sent down to this southern shithole, Viv came over to me, shook me hand and said he was sorry but northerners looked the same to him."
Ray laughs.
Then Gene again: "Said he'd look after me."
Ray: "I've worked with a few skippers in my time, but Viv was the best by a country mile. I'm gonna miss him."
Chris: "I can't believe he's gone. I keep looking at the the door and expecting him to come through and bollock me for not having done me paperwork."
Shaz: "He was a lovely man."
Gene: "When it came to it, it was my turn to look after him."
Ray: "Guv, it wasn't your fault. It was nobody's fault but Viv's."
Chris empties his glass and when he tries to open another bottle of beer, he accidentally spills ome.
Chris: "Bollocks."
While Shaz is handing him a cloth, Gene says: "I've just lost one of my finest and now I'm left with officers like you, Skelton, you clumsy bastard!"
Gene then throws his glass against the wall at full tilt.
Luigi: "Signore Hunt, please."
Gene (to Chris): "Show some respect."
Ray intervenes: "Guv, it's gonna be alright. We're all gonna be alright."
Gene: "Where's Bolly?"
Thenn "Bolly" at her desk. She is looking at pictures until Keats starts talking to her.
Keats: "Another good officer gone, Alex."
Alex: "Sir…"
Keats: "Find a dead police officer and a penny to a pound, you’ll find Gene Hunt standing over him."
Alex: "If you don't mind, sir. I've got things to do."
Keats: "Still, you're the lucky one. Your bullet didn't kill you."
Alex: "It was an accident."
Keats comes closer. Refering to the picture in her hand, Keats asks: "Who's this?"
Alex: "It sounds stupid, but erm… you know the ghost I was telling you about?"
Keats: "Where did you find it?"
Alex: "The guv's office."
Keats: "Another dead copper?"
then he laughs.
Keats: "He's slippery. Even putting this report together, working right here, next to him. Covers his tracks."
Alex: "He's a good copper."
Keats: "He's a killer."
Keats grabs the film from the camera Alex has also found in the box from Gene's desk.
Keats: "And this?"
Alex: "That was with it. Can I… I'm gonna get it developed. I…"
Keats: "Well, we got superior facilities at D&C. I'll do it."
Keats puts the film in his coat pocket, goes around the desk ad bends over.
Keats: "You know, um… you could no more turn your back on a bent copper than stop breathing. We're the same, you and me."
Now, Alex gets up as well: "Except I don't want it to be true. So we're not the same, are we?"
Keats: "The time has come, Alex. Do what you were put here to do. Get me Gene Hunt."
Then a little shot of Alex. Finally, the opening begins in the UK Version, too.

Alternate Footage
05:29

Only the German DVD contains the additional titel "Zurück in die 80er" ("Back to the 80s). For obvious reasons, the UK DVD only contains the original show title. Furthermore, the German title of the episode follows after the opening. In the UK Version, the title does not appear.

Please note: I am well aware that this is irrelevant for international audiences, but I would not be surprised if this alteration had been made in other (non-English speaking) countries as well.

Chris: "Oh, it doesn't matter."
Shaz: "You need to stad up for yourself, Chris."
