Regarding The Street Fighter and its two sequels, fellow author brainbug1602 has already written all the essentials in the detailed intro of the report for the US version of Part 3. Following the 2019 HD premiere by Shout! Factory in the US, a Blu-ray box set from Arrow Video has also been available in the UK since April 17, 2023. Arrow is using new HD scans here, which look slightly better than the Shout versions. Part 3 in particular benefits from this, as with Shout the cut scenes in the US version were only available in SD, while Arrow now offers the film uncut completely in HD (comparison screenshots).

The announcement for the Arrow box was a bit unclear regarding the included versions, as they explicitly mentioned the Japanese and US versions of the films in the specs. As with Shout, however, only Part 3 is actually available in a shorter alternate cut. You can choose between the US and JP versions for parts 1 and 2 in the menu, but they run identically to the second and as we could determine in a direct comparison, they only differ in the credits and various text overlays throughout the film. We've included comparative images in the report for the heavily censored R-rated VHS. The film, which was previously known to be X-rated in U.S. theaters, was also released uncut in the U.S. on VHS as well as laserdisc and DVD.

On March 10, 2023, an approximately one-minute shorter version of the film was uploaded to the YouTube channel Filmix, which offers legally licensed and/or public domain titles. Shortly before that, Part 2 was also presented on the channel in a version that was censored for the infamous eye scene, among other things. So we took a closer look at part 1 as well, but it's a different case here. The difference in running time is only due to trivial missing parts and the version itself is uncensored. There is no other release known and actually there is no reason to watch this zoomed and only in weak SD quality offered version. But if you want to have a look for free, at least you will be spared from censorship.

14 sec

The title insert has been replaced in the Filmix version. The rest of the credits are identical in the English version (crumbling at the end of each insertion). Strangely, the text overlays across the film are again in the original Japanese version, while these are in English on the US version of the Blu-ray.

06:10 / 06:24-07:14

The opening credits are significantly longer. The YouTube version withholds this part by fading to black. Tateki Shikenbaru (aka Junjo) is led up to the gallows for much longer and is blindfolded.

49.2 sec

45:01 / 46:05-46:07

Before the plane lands, you can see the airport insignificantly longer.

1.5 sec

73:53 / 74:59-75:08

Again, the end of the scene is tightened a bit with a black fade-in/out. After Tsuguri has been seen a bit longer, there is a first shot of the ship including a text fade-in.

8 sec

The last shot with the end fade-in freezes a bit earlier in the Filmix version. On the Blu-ray, the shot continues a bit longer, with a reference to the sequel. Afterwards, the Filmix version shows "Urban Action" and a copyright from Global Media.
