Comparison between the TV Version and the uncensored DVD Version.

- 4 altered scenes consisting of two instances of alternative footage and three audio censorings
- no difference in time

Background

From the series Family Guy, fans are already used to extensions and uncensored sequences on the DVD box sets since the release of the 4th season. With Seth MacFarlane's other baby - American Dad - they do a similar thing. However, not too many episodes per DVD box are different in comparison to their TV version; probably also because the series isn't as rude as the one starring the Griffins. As a result, there's not too much that needs to be censored.

Similar to Family Guy, the release policy for American Dad is equally confusing. Instead of an entire box set for one season, the releases are divided in volumes (unlike Family Guy the volumes are identical in each country). The first season for example consists of 23 episodes, while the "volume 1" set only includes the first 13 episodes; thus, the following volumes often include episodes of 2 different seasons.

Vol. 1 and 2 didn't include episodes that were different to TV versions except for one: the episode Tears of a Clooney (1x23) on Vol. 2 has a censored and an uncensored soundtrack. Since this censorship only involves beeping out curse words, we decided not to release a report for this episode.

Additionally, we took a closer look at Vol. 2's episode Finances with Wolves, since the official rating entry listed that the episode was about 2 minutes longer than an average episode. However, it is highly possible, that the entry is simply faulty, since the episode actually has an average runtime and does not at all differ from the TV version - neither on the German, nor on the US DVD.

Volume 7

The seventh box contains all 19 episodes of the 6th season. The different numbering is still annoying, but at least a whole season is included in its entirety as in the previous volume.
This release is the first once to contain only the extended versions and not the original TV broadcasts as a bonus. This may be because the 15 of the 19 episodes are featured in an extended version and this probably would have exceeded the discs' limit.

Episodes which only contained beeps that were removed are - as usual - not included in our comparisons. The list of those can be found below.

About this episode

The People vs. Martin Sugar (6x07) contains several censored comments and one scene with an entirely different dialog. Francine expresses herself much more direct when she's describing sexual activities. Also interesting is an alternate animation Francine catches him spanking the monkey in the bathroom.

First of all, the woman's boobs are more explicit. Second, Jeff isn't wearing any pants in the subsequent scene.

The conversation about Hayley having to pleasure Jeff now and then is different. When Francine mentions the pinky, she asks more specifically in the DVD (she wants to know if Hayley performs the right action with that finger). In the TV Version, this is only being mentioned at the very end when Francine is yelling at Hayley. In the DVD Version, this subject was an issue before. Twice actually.
Furthermore, Francine holds her finger in the TV Version but she moves it up and down in the DVD Version.

Francine: "I don't think you're using your pinky."
Hayley: "I told you I'm using it."
Francine: "But are you really using your pinky? I don't think so!"

DVD

Francine: "But are you getting up in there?"
Hayley: "Yes, I'm getting up in there."
Francine: "Are you getting way up in there? I don't think so."
