Fast & Furious 6

Comparison:

  • Theatrical Version
  • Extended Cut
Release: Sep 29, 2013 - Author: Mike Lowrey - Translator: Mike Lowrey - external link: IMDB
All entries of the Fast & Furious franchise managed to haul in a decent amount of money at the box office but the 5th part really stood out, both in terms of revenue and quality. Fast & Furious 6 was able to top that and generated a worldwide box office of $789 million. Therefore, the studio's decision to order parts 7 and 8 was a no brainer. Since most fans should have been happy after leaving the cinemas, the home video releases should add a considerable amount to the studio's bank account. Just as it was handled with part 5, the Blu-ray of Fast Six does also include a slightly extended version. Here, mostly censorship for the PG-13 rating is reversed, additional CGI blood could not be identified. This version is available in the US on Blu-ray only, while customers of the DVD have to be satisfied with the theatrical version.

Comparison between the Theatrical Version (PG-13) and the Extended Cut (Unrated) (both included on the US Blu-ray by Universal Pictures).

Extended scene with alternate material
0:39:26: The EX has a chauvinistic comment from the car manufacturerr when he sees Gisele and Riley approach him: "Who sent you? Oh come on, ladies! Two hot girls like you don't wander into this neighborhood unless I've called the escort service. And I haven't, yet, today.". The TC has them walking towards him in a different shot and as Roman tells Han that his opinion about Gisele's comment about men, we see him here. The EX only features that as a voice over while we see the grinning car guy.
The EX runs 16.64 sec. longer

No time difference

Extended scene with alternate material
0:50:02: In the EX, Letty looks up and attacks Riley by strangling her with the handcuffs. Riley pushes Letty backwards against the wall and when Letty recognizes that the train is about to leave, she kicks Riley in the back of the knee, prompting her to fall to the ground. She then runs off to the train. In the TC, Letty looks up and Riley is already lying on the floor.
The EX runs 9.36 sec. longer

Theatrical VersionExtended

Alternate Material
0:56:18: When Hobbs tells the boss of the CCTV office which reasons could be relevant for the fact that they don't have the recordings of certain cameras, both versions have a different take with a slightly different use of wording and camera shots. But that's all quite irrelevant.

TC: "Now that means either your maintenance schedule lines up perfectly with their escape route or that someone here is working with them."
