This unnecessary thriller was prolonged with four unnecessary scenes by 107 unnecessary seconds. It features deleted scenes including more sex-scenes, of which only a small part made it into the actual unrated version.
Basic Instinct 2 is the attempt of the movie studios to repeat its predecessor’s success. But even before the film hit the cinemas, there were already doubts that Michael Caton-Jones‘ thriller could hold a candle to the original. The first version of the movie was rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Association of America, but after Caton-Jones removed several sex-scenes from his movie it was rated “R”.
The waitress, Magda (Kata Dobó), adresses Dr. Michael Glass (David Morrissey) and ask him about his writings. He responds that he can’t tell her and gazes after her when she leaves the table.
Now Peter Ristedes (Ian Robertson) enters the building and introduces himself to Dr. Glass.

The skyline of London can be seen. Dr. Glass sits at a table in his favorite restaurant, lost in thought. Magda watches him at first and the approaches him and asks him about his health. He looks up and sees her smiling, the next shot shows them having sex in another room. He finally leaves the building.
