SPECIAL 20 UNCUT VERSIONS THAT NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY
7 von 10

Number 4: 8MM - Eight Millimeters

8MM, Joel Schumacher's controversial thriller about the snuff and porn movie industry, is also one of the evergreens among the discussion topics regarding censorship. Besides some allegations that there was a slightly longer version of the movie in German cinemas, it is certain that the movie was cut and the original version has never been released. Especially many sex scenes, often hardcore, that could be seen in background had to go, but some violence like the throat cutting was affected too. A workprint is in existence, it is supposed to be significantly more explicit, but is of course not an official version and in terrible quality.

The fact that there is no uncensored release to this day is even worse when keeping in mind that Sony, holding the rights to the movie, produced a very shallow DTV sequel in 2005, which was then available in both R-Rated and Unrated releases. Again, the movie seems to have been made too early. However, Sony should really know that fans want the full version of the original and not low quality sequels.
