Comparison between the cut British VHS by CIC (PG Rating) and the uncut German DVD by Universal (identical to BBFC 12 DVD)

Joe Dante's brilliant comedy with a touch of horror had always been released uncut in Germany. In Great Britain, however, the film had been shortened by a few seconds in the cinematic version and the VHS. These cuts concerned scenes, in which Tom Hanks watches horror movies on TV. This was done to receive a PG rating. In 2004, the film was re-examined due to a DVD release and received a BBFC 12 rating this time; The BBFC-12-Version is uncut.
