Compared are the TV Version and the Extended Version
6 differences, incl. 5x alternate footage
Length difference: 21 sec
New season, old problem: Any Blu-ray release worldwide only contains the TV Version of every single episode while, for instance, the US and UK DVDs contain the Extended Versions.
Episode 4x03 (The One with the Cuffs) is only a few seconds longer but those are rather interesting actually. For instance, there are more scenes regarding Chandler's affair with Rachel's boss Joanna.
Additional black screen in the TV Version due to a commercial break.
+ 1.2 sec
After Chandler and Rachel turn around to Joey who is making mattress noises, the conversation ends entirely different.
In the TV Version, the subsequent shot starts a little earlier. Here, Rachel wants Chandler to promise that he will break up with Joanna and Chandler promises Rachel to do so.
The Extended Version contains an alternate take of Rachel saying that. At the same time, Joanna actually comes out of Chandler's room.
Joanna: "Rachel, aren't you running late?"
Rachel: "Uhh no..."
Joanna: "You are if you pick me up a bagel."
Rachel: "Okay. Chandler, promise me you will end this now."
Extended Version 7.7 sec longer
Alternate shot of Chandler and Rachel as reaction to Joey's dumb comment at the end of the scene.
Chandler also says: "I really don't think we should be doing this."
Then they continue kissing.
Alternate take of Rachel leaving the room.
Furthermore, the TV Version contains a black screen due to a commercial break.
TV Version 1.5 sec longer
Curious: While the shot itself is basically the same, the end of it runs with less frames per second in the TV Version. As a result, it ends with Rachel looking forward. In the Extended Version on the other hand, the shot runs with the regular speed which is why Rachel here gets to turn around resp. she makes afew steps forward at the end of the shot.
In the Extended Version, Rachel puts the key on the table in front of Joanna, then she stops. Of course, Joanna can't get free by herself so she says with anger written all over her face: "If you could...!"
Rachel: "Oh, I'm sorry!"
Then an alternate shot of Rachel on her way to uncuff Joanna.
Extended Version 8.1 sec longer
