Michael's conversation with Devon and Wilton is longer.
(Devon: "It gives you a second chance to live. Unless, of course, you prefer to walk around with a face that might get you killed all over again.")
Wilton: "You take my word you'll be much safer with this face. And it's eh… rather handsome. If I do say so myself."
Wilton leaves, Michael keeps looking at his new face in the mirror.

Wilton steps outside, Devon does the same.
Devon: "Does it strike you that there's an uncanny resemblane between this young fellow and you as a young man?"
If looks could kill… Wilton does not like where Devon is going with this.
Devon clears his throat, then he says: "My imagination I suppose."
Wilton: "Stick to your task. When will I see it?"
Devon: "I've been trying to tell you. It could be ready within the month."
Wilton: "Excellent! I pray that it leaves me enough time."

Michael is running across the estate. Wilton is keeping tabs on him with his binoculars.
Devon: "What have you told him?"
Wilton: "I've told him that he has no longer anyone to fear. In the eyes of the law, Michael Long is legally dead and we haven't done anything wrong."
Devon: "Stealing a body from the medical school so that the police can find it is hardly what I would call playing by the rules."
Wilton: "I make my own rules. So does the government. They fake deaths and identities all the time. Not to mention our adversary."
Devon: "Alright. But why are you doing it?"
Wilton: "I think you know why, Devon. I want to leave something behind me. Something worthwile, not just a lot of numbers in a bank account. Now, when will the Knight 2000 be ready?"
Devon: "Soon. I have the crews working double shift."
Wilton: "Make it around the clock. I want it done, I want it done within the next 48 hours."
Devon: "48 hours? Wilton, has the doctor said that…"
Wilton unterbricht: "Don't you worry about what the good doctor has told me. I'll worry about the doctors… and Michael Long."
Devon leaves.

Michael comes running up the stairs.
Wilton: "Aren't you pushing it a bit, Michael? "
Michael stops.
Michael: "I gotta get back in shape real fast. I got one last debt to pay." Wilton: "Is revenge the only thing you can think of? You're better than that. You were a good cop."
Michael: "Was I? As I recall, I blew it."
Wilton: "What if I were to offer you another shot? I want Tanya and her friends, too, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. Now, if we could work together…"
Michael: "Mr. Knight, my last partner's dead. Nothing personal but from now on, I work alone. I can't take responsability for anybody's life but my own. I think you can understand that."
Wilton nods, Michael leaves.

Michael is curious so he sneaks in the hangar when it is dark. He takes a look around. It does not take long and Michael has his very first encounter with K.I.T.T. At first, one only gets to see the red light in the dark. K.I.T.T. then starts the engine and turns on the headlight. K.I.T.T. slowly moves in Michael's direction. Michael twitches but he does not step aside. Now, Wilton has enough and turns on the light.
Wilton: "Enough, Devon. You've had your fun with our guest."
Devon gets out of K.I.T.T. and starts complaining about Michael's behavior.
Devon: "It isn't polite to sneak around uninvited."
Wilton: "Be gracious, Devon. I think an explanation is well overdue."
Michael: "Damn right it is. What is all this? What are you guys up to, people sneaking in and outta here at all hours by day and night?"
Devon: "Look at who's talking?"
Wilton: "Oh, be quiet. Both of you. Let's get down to business. I'm running out of time. And Michael here is… now healthy enough to carry on."
Michael: "Carry on what? I don't know what you people do outta here but I just wanna get on with my life."
Devon: "That's not very grateful. Aren't you the least bit angry at the people who left you to die?"
Michael: "Angry? Angry doesn't even come close. But I'm gonna adjust. You know why?"
Wilton: "Tell me."
Michael: "'Cause they're too big. The kind of criminals that operate above the law, nobody can touch 'em."
Wilton: "I don't agree with you."
Michael: "Well, you're entitled to your opinion. As for me, I'm pullin' outta here tonite and I'm taking my car with me."
Wilton: "Prepare the car for him, Devon. He'll have to know about it so it's safe for him to drive."
Wilton almost faints.
Wilton: "I must go to bed. I'm not… eh… (he laughs) …feeling very well."
Wilton leaves the hangar.

When Wilton is gone, Devon speaks bluntly.
Devon: "You just struck a dying man.
Michael: "Hey, listen, I like that old man. I really do. But Devon, I gotta get on with my own life."
Devon: "You wouldn't have a life if we hadn't brought you here. Remember, there are still people who will kill you if they find out you're alive."
Michael: "But I'm legally dead, remember? Devon, I don't even know me with this face. What's all this about my car?"
Devon: "Any resemblance between that car and your own is purely superficial."
Michael: "What are you talking about? Devon, that's my car. I left it out in the desert."
Devon: "No, it may look like your car but in actuality, this vehicle is probably the most expensive car in the world."
Michael: "C'mon, this is my car."
Michael touches the hood.
Michael: "What's this? A new paint job? It feels like baby skin. Boy, those guys did a nice job. There's not a ripple on it, like a mirror."
Devon: "It's not paint. It's a finished bond into the molecular structure of a new substance."
Michael: "You mean the metal?"
Devon: "It's not metal. And it's not fiberglass. Excuse me."
Devon walks away, Michael keeps checking out the car. Devon comes back with a huge hammer.
Devon: "Here. Strike the surface as hard as you can."
Michael: "Come on, Devon. I'm not gonna hit my car. It's beautiful."
So Devon does what Michael refused to do: He strikes the surface as hard as he can. Michael gets a little startled because he did not expect that.
Then Michael realizes: "There's not a mark on it. How did you do that?"
Devon: "Don't just stand there with your mouth open. Get in the car. I'll show you."
Michael gets in and so does Devon.

With Devon's "Welcome aboard the Knight 2000." and Michaels "Thank you.", the versions are back in sync - at least for the time being or should I say for a very little moment? Because with Michael's next comment "What's all this?" (he is refering to all the technical devices K.I.T.T. is equipped with), there is another alteration.
Michael: "What's all this? Looks like Darth Vader's bathroom."
Devon's subsequent comment is slightly shorter asll resp. in the Syndicated Version, Devon only says K.I.T.T. was one of a kind.
Devon: ("It is a one of a kind car, Mr. Long.) It is the fastest, safest, strongest car in the world. It is also completely fuel-efficent and it is operated entirely by microprocessors which which make it virtually impossible for it to be involved in any kind of mishap or collision. Unless, of course, specifically so ordered by its pilot."
Michael: "Pilot? Don't tell me this thing flies."
Devon: "No. But it thinks."
Michael: "It thinks? My car thinks?"
Devon: "We like to think of it as our car. Now, in order to motivate it forward…"
Michael: "I recognize the more rudimentary controls such as the accelerator, Devon. I do know how to drive."
Michael puts the car into first gear and steps on the gas. He crashes through the door and stops.
Davon sarcastically: "I would have prefered you to have let me open the door first. However, as you see, no harm has come to the car."
Michael: "You also told me this machine couldn't have a collision."
Devon: "Not if the system is operable. And to do that, you have to eh… switch it on first."
Devon turns on the computer aka K.I.T.T.: "Like that."
Michael: "Now, you're telling me… I can’t hit anything?"
Devon: "Trust me."
Michael: "I'll never trust anybody again."
Michael drives away.

And here we have Michael's first joyride with K.I.T.T.
Michael: "I'm warning you, Devon. I'm gonna put this thing to the test."
Devon: "Be my guest."
Michael puts the pedal to the metal. All of a sudden, a semi shows up in front of them.
Michael: "I don't believe this. I'm playin' chicken with a ten-ton semi."
Michael laughs, then K.I.T.T. switches to autopilot and passes the semi.
Michael is confused: "Devon, the car just drove around the truck. It steered itself."
Devon: "Yes, it's marvellous, isn't it?"
Michael: "I hate it. I like to make my own decisions."
Devon: "Well, the microprocessor deduced that you were acting contrary to your best interests. It had two choices. Either to slow down or to manoeuver around the obstacle."
Michael: "Well, then why didn't this thing slow down instead of driving around the truck? It would've been a lot safer."
Devon: "Well, ehm…"
Michael: "Well, why? Come on, did I found a flaw in the perfect machine?"
Devon: "No, no, no. No flaw, I assure you. It's just that ehm…"
Michael: "It's just what?"
Devon: "Well… it was showing off for you."
Michael: "What?!"
Devon laughs, Michael pulls over.
Michael: "And you're telling me that this car can just take off? Go for gas or a car wash, just like that?"
Devon nickt: "Mm-hm."
Michael: "That would be terrific if I happen to be working under it."
Devon: "It wouldn't harm you, I assure you. Its primary function is the preservation of human life. Your life."
Michael: "By me, you mean… anybody driving this thing."
Devon: "No, no, no. I mean you, specifically. You, Michael Arthur Long."
Michael is still confused when he looks at Devon.

Wilton Knight is dying. Devon and Michael go to see him.
Wesley: "You better hurry."
Devon and Michael walk up to his bed, Wesley shuts the door from outside.
Devon: "We're too late."
Wilton opens his eyes and smiles: "Almost."
Then Wilton asks: "What kept you? Car not fast enough?"
Michael laughs: "You gotta put that thing on the market. Could save thousands of lives."
Wilton: "And have it taken away from me, kept off the market, like they did my…"
Wilton coughs badly.
Devon: "Don't try to talk. I'll explain everything."
And so he does.
Devon: "Mr. Knight is the last of his breed. He built his own empire, just like the Fords and the Rockefellers did."
Michael: "Devon, we've been all through this."
Now, Wilton intervenes: "Alright. Michael, come closer."
Michael gets really close.
Wilton: "You were speared to lead a great fight. Don't turn away in fear. One man can make a difference. And you are going to be that man."
Michael: "Mr. Knight, eh… I'd like to be able to promise you I feel like I could take on the world some day but I can't. I still wake up in the middle of the night, shaking, remembering that gun in my face and the whole world blowin' up."
Wilton: "Remember that moment. Think of it as your 'baptism by fire'."
Wilton reaches for Michael's hand. who then reaches for Wilton's hand.
(Wilton: "My… adventure has ended. Yours… has just… just begun.")
During Wilton's identical comment, the Syndicated Version cuts to Michael for a brief moment while the Uncut Version sticks to Wilton resp. the mentioned shot of Michael here follows right after Wilton's comment.

Then Wilton dies. Devon and Michael are mourning his death.

Subsequently, Michael rushes into the hangar with K.I.T.T. in it.
Devon: "For God's sake, don't go quite so fast. I'm puffed."
Michael: "Sorry, Devon. But I got places to go."
Devon: "What the hell does that mean?"
Michael: "I heard you on the phone this morning, you found the girl in California."
Devon: "What? You mean that you deliberately listened in on a private conversation?"
Michael: "Listen, I don't do things like that. But you got so excited you were talking a mile a minute, the gardener could have heard you over the lawnmower. Now, what's she up to?"
(Devon: "She's working in a place called Silicon Valley.")

After Michael's comment that he would go to Silicon Valley as well, there is another cut resp. the discussion continues.
Devon: "I forbid it."
Michael: "Devon, you can't forbid it."
Devon: "I can certainly take away the car."
Michael: "I'll get another one. Besides, it's in my name."
Devon: "That's were you’re wrong."
When Devon gets the "Validated Registration Card" out of his pocket, the versions are back in sync.
