After the History Channel stopped doing real history documentaries and started focussing pseudo-scientific studies (UFOs and the like) as well as pseudo documentaries (Pawn Stars) which they achieve great successes with, they also tried out (mini) series. The Drama series Vikings is one of them and throughout the first two seasons entirely satisfied its audience. In early 2016, audiences will be able to enjoy the forth season.
Just as in the previous season, all episodes were aired in a censored version on American TV. Besides numerous cuts to the plot, there are also several scenes that had to be censored. All sex and nudity was either removed or replaced by alternate, more harmless footage. Regarding violence, there are no differences. At least not in the first 5 episodes.
This is a comparison between the American TV Version aired on the History Channel and the Extended Version.

The Extended Version is 212.16 seconds (3:32 minutes) longer than the TV Version.
Lagertha's conversation with Kalf is longer. Lagertha explains when Kalf's mother died, Lagertha promised her to take care of Kalf but Lagertha sometimes believes it was the other way around. Kalf then sighs.

Additional dialog between Ragnar and his wife. Ragnar said he lives for his sons. Aslaug looks down to Ivar and asks if he lived for all of them but Ragnar does not respond. Aslaug explains Ragnar did not have to answer that because he knew he loved his sons.
An elderly man is sitting in the snow. Then a shot of Siggy buying fish.
Siggy and Rollo have a few relationship issues. He complains about not receiving any warmth and she wants to know from him what he expected. Finally, she leaves the house. Rolly is angry and destroys the furniture.
Ragnar asks Athelstan if he would still refuse if Lagertha and he offered to share their bed with him. Athelstan smiles.
Ragnar claims he could have same haircut monks have. And again, he manages to make Athelstan smile. Ragnar shuts the door and they both go back to "where it is warm". Ragnar follows her boyfriend.
King Ecbert expresses his happiness about Athelstan being back. He asks him how his sould was doing and Athelstan says she was fine. Ecbert then goes to his desk.
The TV Version also shows the caravan, lead by Ecbert, Lagertha and Athelstan, moves forward.
