Compared are the cut episodes on the US DVD by Lions Gate / FOX and the uncut episodes on the German DVD by Warner Home Video.

The differences:

8 cuts = 4 minute and 49.5 seconds

One certainly needs to make no words about the hilarious TV show "ALF". Even those who have not seen it have at least heard of it even though it has been quite some time since something new from the ALF universe was released. Anyway, the show consists of 4 seasons and was aired in the late 80s and early 90s. Furthermore, there are two animated series ("ALF: The Animated Series" & ALF Tales) and a motion picture from the mid 90s.


As for the US Versions, a few minutes of each episode were cut for syndication in order to show more commercials. Unfortunately, these syndication versions were also released on DVD. Understandably, the fans were disappointed that the DVDs do not contain the uncut episodes. Whether or not the uncut episodes will be released one day (perhaps on Blu-ray?) is the million dollar question.

Alf hungrily sits at the kitchen table. Willie and Katherine come in with a few full shopping bags.
Alf: It's about time you got back with the food!
Katherine: Alf, we've only been gone an hour!
Alf: An hour and 12 minutes, according to seven of my stomachs!
Alf looks into one of the shopping bags and greedily takes some stuff out.
Katherine: Alf! Alf, can't you wait for us to unpack them?
Alf: Let's see... No!
He continues to unpack the bag.

The phone conversation between Willie and the couple that allegedly has an alien in their house goes on a little longer.
Willie: I see!
Alf: Hand me the phone!
Willie: Would your space alien happen to be a little on the pushy side?... Oh really!... Well, thank you, then! Thank you! Thank you very much! Thank you for your time!
Willie hangs up.
Alf: Barstow!
Willie: No!
Alf: Yes!
Katherine: Alf, Barstow is a three-hour drive from here!
Alf (singend): But we're cousins!
Willie: Alf, you don't really...
Alf (sings): Melmacian cousins all the way! One pair of matching bookends!
Willie (gives in): I'll get my keys!
While Willie gets the keys, Alf sings some more: Barstow, we're on our way!

Willie: As I was saying, I realize how important this is to you! That's why I'm driving all the way to Barstow, but I...
Alf: Willie, I know what you're gonna say!
Willie: You do?
Alf: Sure! And I appreciate the offer! And I know that Blinky's gonna fit into the Tanner household as well as I do!

Betty: What?
Nick: I can't live like this anymore!
Betty: Ah, what are you talking about? I just got a quick 10 bucks out of that sucker!
Nick: Fine, we'll apply it to this month's glue bill!

Alf: Look, I appreciate the offer, but I'm really here to see Blinky!
Betty: Blinky? Uh, what's Blinky?
Alf: I know you've got him! Where is he? Get me Blinky!
Betty: Oh, we'll get you Blinky! We'll get you all the Blinky you want! You're going to be very happy with us!
The doorbell rings.
Betty: I'll get rid of whoever that is!
Betty walks to the door. When she opens it we can see Willie standing in front of it.
Willie: Oh, excuse me for bothering you again...
Betty: Go away!
Willie: I will! I promise! I just wanted to retrieve something I lost!
Betty: No refunds!
Willie: I'm not asking for a refund! I just want to s... May I please come in?
Betty: I said beat it! We're closed!
She slams the door shutand says: Catch us in the spring! We'll be on the road again!
Willie rings the doorbell again and Betty opens.
Willie: I'm really sorry, but...
He cannot say anything else since Betty holds a loaded crossbow at his face.
Betty: I don't wanna use this!
Willie: Go with that impulse!
Then he slowly walks backwards until he leaves the screen. betty puts the crossbow down and closes the door.

Inside, Betty puts the crossbow away.
Alf: Was that Willie?
Betty: No, no, heh! It wasn't anybody! Uh, why don't you just take a seat?
Alf walks to the chair. Meanwhile, Betty gets a rope out of the chest, hides it behind her back and approaches Alf.

The Tanners' telephone rings. Katherine answers it.
Katherine: Hello?
Willie: Kate, it's me!
Katherine: Oh, we were just beginning to worry! Is everything all right?
Willie: Not exactly!
Katherine: Well, what do you mean? Do they have an alien?
Willie: They do now!
Lynn: What's going on?
Katherine: They have Alf! They won't let him go?
Willie: I'm gonna go back and try and get him! But it may take a while!
Katherine: Uh, will you call me back?
Willie: I can't, Kate! I spent all my money glimpsing a Polaroid!
Katherine: Glimpsing a Polaroid?
Lynn: A Polaroid of what?
Katherine: Of what?
Willie: German shepherd with antennas!
Katherine: Antennas?
Lynn: It has antennas?
Willie: It just goes downhill from there, Kate! I'll call you later! I love you!
Katherine: Honey, I love you!
Lynn: What has antennas?
Katherine: Apparently, German shepherds in Barstow!
