Comparison was made between the Export Version and the Director's Cut / Workprint, both avaiilable on the US Blu-ray by Severin. The beautiful Patricia is on vacation in Cyprus with her father, a US Senator. There, she coincidentally meets Dorian, who is trying to recruit new members for his cult. She falls in love with him and joins him in the Camp of Love. The leader of the cult also appears there. Meanwhile, the Senator tries to rescue his daughter from Dorian's clutches... In addition to what I consider the vastly overrated Die Brut des Bösen, Divine Emanuelle (aka Die Todesgöttin des Liebescamps) is the only film directed by Christian Anders. He was primarily a singer in Germany with hits like "Es fährt ein Zug nach Nirgendwo", but he had ambitions to be involved in the film industry. In Divine Emanuelle, he directed, produced, wrote the screenplay, and even played one of the main roles. The film combines esoteric nonsense with sexploitation and features Laura Gemser as the goddess of the love camp. The plot moves slowly, but the film works in a quirky way as it bombards the audience with new absurd ideas throughout. A loincloth-clad muscle man wanders around, Dorian gets to demonstrate his barely-existent Kung-Fu skills, and there are surprisingly many sex scenes in the film. Director's Cut released in the USADivine Emanuelle is part of the Blu-ray box set The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle, released in the USA by Severin. In addition to the Export Version, there is a longer version titled FANATICO...WHEN THE GODDESS CALLS, labeled as Workprint of Christian Anders' Director's Cut. This is remarkable because it marks the first time that the original version created by Christian Anders has been released. Until now, only the Export Version and the very short German theatrical version (only 76 minutes long) had been released. It turns out that the German theatrical version is based on the Director's Cut but was trimmed down quite a bit. Besides the many cuts, international viewers could already spot a few additional scenes in this German release. The Director's Cut contains scenes that have never been seen anywhere else, including a phenomenally crazy flashback in which the goddess visits a village of lepers and meets Tanga there. The dialogues in the Director's Cut are better developed with a stronger esoteric focus, and various additional scenes shed light on the relationship between Patricia and her father, who is trying to boost his election campaign. Ultimately, it's not particularly interesting, but it rounds off the film much better. On the other hand, the Export Version offers more sex scenes, and the order of various scenes has been changed, leading to several gaps in the story. For instance, the scene where Rose is killed by Tanga, observed by Gabriel, has been separated. In the Export Version, it seems as though Gabriel randomly discovered Tanga. The focus of the Export Version was clearly on including more sex in the film. In my opinion, the Workprint / Director's Cut alone is worth getting The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle Blu-ray box. You get to experience the film in a completely different way and immerse yourself in the eccentric world of Christian Anders, who had a religiously themed epic in mind but failed to achieve that, resulting in a delightfully bizarre exploitation film. It's worth it. Running times:

Willie demands that she start with him, but the woman asks for an offering. Willie pays for himself and his friend, and the woman begins the "ceremony." She pulls down his pants and starts with fellatio. Willie's friend wonders what kind of brothel it is and joins in. Sexual intercourse takes place between Willie and the woman while his friend lies under the woman. She also attends to Willie's friend in a somewhat awkward position.
In the Workprint, instead, Dorian is shown listening to a tape recording of the Goddess. She instructs him to recruit more followers.
