Comparison between the Hong Kong original version (on disc 2) and the integral version (on disc 1) on the German Blu-ray by Digidreams Studios.

- 8 differences
- Runtime difference: 613 sec (= 10:13 min)

We have already described it in detail in the comparison for the predecessors (see comparison to the integral version of Mad Mission 3), thus right to the present title: Also of Mad Mission 4 - You Never Die Twice you will find an integral version on the Blu-ray by DigiDreams, which is finally available since June 2019 after several postponements. With the Hong Kong original version as a basis, the additional material of the international version was added.

A short passage was apparently forgotten and due to the repeated occurrence of alternative material, moments from the original version are inevitably missing. So in the end, the integral version does not contain all possible material. As with its predecessors, the Blu-ray (despite SD upscales) is a well-rounded package from a technical point of view and the approach of the integral version is of course interesting due to the many exclusive features of both official versions.

Runtimes are ordered as follows: Hong Kong original version Blu-ray / integral version Blu-ray

00:00-00:18 / 00:00-06:32

With the alternative beginning, the English export credits in Star Wars style were unfortunately not adopted for the integral version.

In the original version there is only a company note at the beginning.

In the integral version, instead, it starts right away with a professor walking across the street. A killer watches him from the car and then briefly threatens him with his knife. When his colleague drives up in the car, he accidentally pushes the knife into his stomach. Shocked by this himself, the professor can briefly push him away and flee.

Then the professor enters a bar and goes to a young woman. She is told to call and ask for Sam, whereupon the injured professor digs some change out of his pocket. On the way, the woman is surprised by the killer who knocks her out. A man wants to reach for the phone, whereupon the killer shoots at it and has finally caught the attention of the whole bar. Now he turns to the professor again and asks for the stone.

As the baddie approaches the door with the professor, Sam suddenly joins in and can take him out with a dart. Shortly afterwards, he also shoots him in the hand and accidentally in his own pants, when he puts the gun away again a little too cool.

The professor then succumbs to his wound and the killer can escape from the bar. So the professor tells Sam with his last ounce of strength that the prism is with another professor and he has to go to him quickly. It continues in New Zealand, where the killer tells his client by phone that he has not yet received the prism. The boss is furious and asks his fellow men to explain a little more about the prism. In return, the man immediately gets a money case and has to listen to a threat in case something goes wrong. Then they look at the plans with satisfaction.

Integral version 374.2 sec (= 6:14 min) longer

Alternative

An alternative flight shot over the hills, much longer in the integral version.

Integral version 11.6 sec longer

Alternative
13:02-13:18 / 19:28-19:44

Here, the film title appears in the original version or rather moves into the picture in red. With the international and thus also the integral version, the shot is unchanged.

In the integral version, the following shot starts a little earlier and in the middle of the shot, the picture source changes. The "Hong Kong" fade-in that is actually missing in the international version shortly after is therefore included in the integral version.

No time difference

About 40 seconds later, there's an alternative shot of the action on the pitch, which was available in the international version and was ignored in the integral version.
