Comparison between the HD version and the original version (both included on the German Blu-ray by Filmjuwelen)
In the comparison of the pilot episode, we have already summarized everything about the problems with the HD remastering of Baywatch, which is different in songs and also censored in nude scenes, at least right at the beginning. Episode 2x14 (Sea of Flames) has a longer cut again. The clarifying conversation between Ben and Maggie on the beach was withheld for whatever reason, even introduced with an alternative shot of Ben. Beyond that, a few typical archive footage discrepancies. Note: The episode is placed 16th on the Blu-ray (fourth episode on the third disc).
Alternative
02:05-02:09 / 02:06-02:10 An exchanged shot of dolphins, right after the title shot. No time difference
Exchanged song during the montage of promenade scenes in minute 6. Alternative 06:38-06:43 / 06:38-06:43 Curious detail: In the original version, during the above-mentioned montage, a timer is inserted several times for 2 frames during the transition of the shot (which is passed through by interlacing strips). No time difference
Exchanged song during the surfer assembly in minute 20. Alternative 30:02-30:10 / 29:59-31:52 In the >HD version, Ben can only be seen from a distance and the camera fades over to Eddie at the station. The camera movement down from the picture there starts much earlier.
The original version shows him instead from a different perspective and looking more thoughtfully to the ground. Maggie joins him and shows him a framed picture of Ben on the rescue tower 30 years ago. Maggie says she took it herself and admired him even then. Ben asks why she didn't come out of it then. Maggie mentions a secret, which she now wants to reveal to him - and with that, there is a soft blending.
original version 105 sec (= 1:45 min) longer Alternative 34:10-34:15 / 35:52-35:57 Alternative shot of the rescue helicopter. No time difference
