4 new / extended scene, one of them with alternate footage
+ 1 audio modification

Difference: 106.4 sec

Family Guy is a huge success on FOX. But some modifications need to be made to get permission to air it on FOX because some gags are too rude for TV. Other gags have only been removed to reach the appropiate length for an episode on TV, which means not all the differences were made due to censorship. Nevertheless there are still enough hilarious, outrages gags in it so that fans are gonna have lots of fun with watching the TV Version on FOX. (I'm speaking from experience.)

BTW It airs every sunday evening on FOX. That's really nice because you can also watch the new American Dad episode and new episode of The Cleveland Show. So you've got a terrific triple feature. And when you're watching FOX anyway, you can also watch the latest Simpsons episode. I can really imagine worse evening than watching the latest episodes of the series by Seth MacFarlane plus some new adventures of Homer & Co.

There are a lot of differences in episode 4x26 "Petergeist". According to the audio commentary, one of the scenes needed to removed due to censorship. The other stuff might have been too rude for TV plus the usual audio modifications. Interesting is that even the word "god" (in the context of "goddamn") has been beeped in the TV Version.

Time index refers to the TV Version.

The scene at the Griffins' house starts earlier. Chris can't sleep because of the t-storm and Peter gives him pretty dumb advice.

Peter: "Good night, buddy. Hey, what's the matter?"
Chris: "I'm scared of the storm, Dad."
Peter: "Why, you know, I think the storm is moving away from us, Chris. You know how I can tell? Here's a little trick. When you see the lightning, you count all the terrible things that can happen to a child, until you hear the thunder. And if you count higher each time, you know the storm is moving away from you. Okay, ready?"
Chris: "Ready."
Peter (after a flashing outside): "Okay. Drowning. Getting shot in a drive-by."
Chris: "Lyme disease from a deer tick."
Peter: "Good, good. Getting stabbed in the face."
Chris: "Getting shot in the face."
Peter: "I see you're kind of stealing mine, but it's okay. Leukemia."
Chris: "Having a mosquito bite you on your scab."
(Another flashing) Peter: "Oh, there's your thunder. Okay, let's try again. Okay. Swallowing a razor blade accidentally."
A further flashing. Anxiously Peter hides under the blanket after he said "Oh, crap, it's getting closer!".

Alternate footage
10:43-10:45

After Chris determinded amusedly that Meg's butt was the exit for the parallel universe, the TV Version contains a short tracking shot of Meg being shocked.

The DVD Version doesn't contain that. Instead the episode continues with Peter and one of his (in)famous cutaway gags.

Peter: "God, this is even weirder than when Bob Costas insisted on getting into the tub with me every time I took a bath."
Peter leans back in the bath tub: "Ah, this will be relaxing."
Bob Costas gets in the tu immediately and says: "Hello again, Peter, and this is gonna be great. We can talk sports and we can play with your tub toys."
Peter is POed: "Yeah, listen, Bob, this is kind of my time."
Bob doesn't respond. Instead he reaches for the little boat: "Ah, a miniature boat. And if I'm not mistaken, it's a replica of the Gretel II, which lost the America's cup on Intrepid in 1973."
Peter makes up an excuse and gets out of the tab: "Yeah, uh, I'm going to dry off now."
Bob: "Peter, now that you're getting out of the tub, what will you miss most?"
Peter sighs again and leaves.

DVD Version 31.6 sec longer

13:50

After the house of the Griffins vanished and the Indian skull ended up in the trash, Herbert shows up again in the DVD Version. He fought for Chris with the tree beforehand.

The tree climbs up the abyss behind Herbert's back. Herert asks: "So, no hard feelings?"
Tree: "No, no, let's just put it all behind us."
Herbert: "You wanna come over for some tea and cookies?"
The tree says "Sure" and follows.
On their way, Herbert wants to know: "Are you a giving tree or a receiving tree?"

According to the audio commentary, especially the last line with the implied gag about homosexuals is the reason why the scene is missing in the TV Version.

14.8 sec

16:30

Extended shot of Brian touching Peter's wiener (where he thinks the skull would be). Peter says: "Boy, this is more awkward than that threesome when the girl didn't show up."
Now a shot of Peter in bed with another guy. Peter shyly asks: "So, uh, you definitely left her a voicemail?"
The guy responds: "Yeah. Two. Home and cell."
Peter repeats: "Oh, good, you got the cell, too. Okay, I was gonna say."
They seem to be embarrassed and look away.

12.3 sec

Audio modification
18:51-18:55

Audio modification when Peter says to Carrot Top: "You're so fucking funny! You're so...god damn you for being so funny!"
Not only the F-Word but also "god damn" has been beeped in the Version that was aired.

The TV Version on the DVD also contains the beeping of the F-Word, but that's it.
