Release: May 20, 2013 - Author: gecko666 - Translator: Matar
Streets of Rage 3 (OV: Bare Knuckle) was released in 1994 and was the last part of the series fort he Mega Drive. Like the predecedant a character was exchanged. New to the game is Dr. Zan Gilbert, a cyborg-human like character. Sammy has been renamed to Skate in the US version.
The graphics have increased, the gameplay remained the same and did not convince anymore. Annoying is the background music which goes more and more on the player's nerves after a while. Compared is the uncensored JP version and the US version. Both games were played on difficulty ‘normal’ whereas the US version is harder because of stronger enemies. Defeating enemies
When an enemies is defeated the JP version shows his blinking body before it disappears. The US version shows the body without blinking. Characters and outfits The menu differs. Except for Zan all characters have new outfits.
Female enemies The JP version shows the female enemies more nude.
Starting screen/Intro The US version lacks the whole intro.
The intro shows the general as Chief of Police and his beard was cut.
Missing wall The first level contains a wall with a hole in the JP version. The US version lacks the whole wall.
Endboss Ash The transvestite Ash was deleted from the US version. Instead Sheeva, a bodyguard from part 2 drives the boat and the level ends with masses of normal enemies. When Ash is defeated he starts to cry.
Endboss Axel The JP version uses the name Break instead of Axel. The outfit is tied to the version which is played.
Before the final punch Axel is a bit more red in the US version
After Axel is defeated only a robot skeleton remains. Diference here: blue knee joint.
The rescue of the Chief of Police/General The JP version shows the General, the US version the Chief of Police. While the General wears an uniform the Chief wears a suit. Within a time limit one has to switch off two laser barriers before poisonous gas appears and the General dies. Here is the rescue variation:
Outro There is a good and a bad end. The good end is equal in both versions. The bad end lacks a image of the destroyed city in the US version. The credits are also missing in the US version.
