119:30 / 132:02-132:03
Another blow to the bolt. 1.3 sec
Recut 119:30 or 120:56-122:04 / 132:03-133:41 Before the camera movement through the barbed wire construct ( which, by the way, starts a little earlier in the US version) follows in the US version how the generals drive up again and look at the whole thing (incl. dead Libyer in the barbed wire). The scene also comes in the European version, shortly after you have seen the rebels in the cave. There is a deviation in it later: 121:25 / 132:34-132:55
After the first view of a dead man, Graziani addresses a few critical words to his colleague, who sits there only dejected. 20.7 sec
119:40 / 133:51-133:55 A first image of a man standing at a radio as well as of other rebels. 3.8 sec
119:48 / 134:03-134:09 One shot a little longer, then the gray-haired one again. 5.4 sec
120:06 / 134:27-134:46 More pictures of thoughtful rebels. Omar coughs and someone screws around the receiver again. The following is a short dialogue about the number of remaining cartridges, which, in the European version, has already been kept on the soundtrack when the recording was made immediately before the cut. 18.4 sec
Alternate / Recut 120:29-120:31 / 135:10-135:12 no difference
The recording of Omar has now been briefly interrupted in the European version by a re-cut to a rebel from the previous cut. no difference
Alternate / Additional Footage European version 120:43-120:45 / 135:24-135:30 Again the European version shows a rebel, who doesn't appear in the US version ( there is only one similar recording in the following longer cut). The US version stays much longer with Omar, who is still looking around after his (identical) words. US version 3.4 sec longer
120:56 / 135:41-136:55 Again the guy at the receiver and Omar further says that they have many friends beside them. The receiver now receives a martial announcement from the Italians, whereupon Omar coughs again and Sharif comes to him. Omar explains that it's not a cold, it's all the dust. Sharif wants him to rest for a while. 70.1 sec (= 1:10 min)
122:13 / 137:05-137:17 Another view of the soldier colonnade, then a radio operator listens to the signals. 11.7 sec
Additional Footage - European version 125:26 / 140:38 The shot of the guy who got shot is insignificantly longer in the European version (no censorship) & the subsequent shot of the horsemen starts a frames earlier. + 0.7 sec Additional Footage - European version 133:20-133:25 / 148:52 Prior to Graziani at his office, the European version contains a further shot of Omar. + 4.7 sec
Additional Footage - European version 142:11-142:12 / 158:01 The last shot of Graziani is slightly longer in the European version. + 0.6 sec 146:37 / 162:38-163:08 Omar is led outside to the gallows, but before that a photo is taken. 28.8 sec
147:01 / 163:32-163:43 Additional views of people watching and Omar is led out of the car. 10.1 sec
Alternate / Recut 147:36-147:38 / 164:19-164:21 Alternate reaction shot - in the European version now a scene which was removed shortly before. no difference
150:28 / 167:19-167:23 Mabrouka longer. 4.1 sec
Additional Footage - European version 151:06-151:06 / 168:02 The praying boy and the girl a little earlier in the European version. + 1.3 sec 151:10 / 168:06-168:07 Additional shot of a kid being held up in the air. 1.4 sec
Alternate / Additional Footage - European version 151:35-151:37 / 168:33-168:35 Alternate reaction shot prior to Omar's body is being taken. no difference
Alternate / Additional Footage - European version 151:48-151:49 / 168:46-168:47 Once again, there is this nonsense alternate footage thing when Omar is being put down. no difference
Almost two minutes later the final text board differs or is one sentence longer in the US version at the beginning. The opening credits themselves are different, too, and in the European version the original photos are compared at the beginning.
Last but not least, a little screenshot comparison..... Finally a small image comparison. The US-HD-Master is zoomed to 16:9, but at least "dynamic" or with adjusted image section depending on the shot. In addition, there is a little more image information at the top and bottom, which often looks more like the format the director wants, as there are cut heads or objects in the 2.35 master of the DVD.
