After Rudy's conversation with Spencer, who explained to Rudy that he now haad the chance to make his work a reality and that he (Spencer) would cover all costs, the versions continue differently.

Original Broadcast Version:
Several exterior shots of Colorado follow. Then a transition to the exterior shot of the hospital which is also the shot from which point on the versions are back in sync. (9.33 sec)

Expanded Syndication Version:
Another one of Rudy's voice-over begins when Rudy drinks his coffee (last identical shot).
Rudy: "In the many years of my medical career, I have encountered death more times than I can remember. My mind and my emotions have built up a defense for just such circumstances. The patients in question became like numbers. It was the only way I could survive. But with this horrible accident that happened to Steve Austin, my defenses were shattered, laying bare my innermost feelings."
The voice-over begins with the end of the shot of Rudy after his conversation with Spencer. Then some additional footage in the Expanded Syndication Version while Rudy's voice-over continues. It ends when the plane takes off to Colorado. Steve and Rudy are on board as well. When the plane is up in the air, a short conversation between the pilots in the cockpit follows.
One of the pilots says: "Strange cargo bill: 'Keep her as smooth as you can.'"
A shot of Steve follows and Rudy's voice-over continues.
Rudy: "That man had become like a son to me. I thanked heavens that a way was discovered to bring him back to a full life again."
During the voice-over, Steve woke up. Rudy starts talking to him.
Rudy: "Steve. I don't want you to worry about anything. We're on our way to the Colorado facility."
Then a shot of the nurse. Subsequently, an alternate exterior shot of Colorado. Now the shot of the hospital (identical in both versions). In other words, the versions are back in sync. There is one tiny difference though: there is no transition from the last exterior shot of Colorado and the exterior shot of the hospital in the Expanded Syndication Version while there is one in the Original Broadcast Version. After Rudy explained what the deal was with Steve's bionics, there is additional footage in the Expanded Syndication Version.
We now see the very first from the Original Broadcast Version: the definition of the term "Cyborg" being typed in on a computer (see 00:00). Due to the prior voice-over, this small scene is a much better fit here.

Now the footage of the surgery during which Steve gets his bionics. Parts of that sequence are used in the opening of the show.
