Comparison:

  • Fullscreen Edition
  • Widescreen Edition
Release: May 14, 2017 - Author: LJSilver - Translator: Tony Montana - external link: IMDB
Compared are the US Fullscreen Edition and the Widescreen Edition (Super 35). Both versions are available on DVD in the US.

Aspect ratio of the DVDs: 1.33:1 resp. 2.35:1 anamorphic.

None of these versions have been censored per se. Nothing is missing and both versions have been rated R. The difference is the alternate aspect ratio which shows a lot of different details.

Compared to the Fullscreen Version, the Widescreen Version does not lack much on top but a lot at the bottom - except for a few shots. On the other hand, the Widescreen Version shows a little more on the left and a lot more on the right. That is how it works.

In a few scenes however, the Fullscreen Version contains the entire open matte image which means said version shows almost twice as much. As a result, one gets to see some explicit details such as Kristanna Loken's breasts.

Now, which versions is better? Well, that depends on whether one prefers the common theatrical look or more details at the bottom.
